I think war is fighting for a good cause. For example, fighting for peace for your people is what I this war is. It is a unsafe but after war you feel relived. People us weapons such as guns and bombs that give loud bangs and pop your ears, and guns that hurt to be hit with
In War World II, People in those countries probably felt scared and lost. They would be afraid to die or get bombed. They would be worried about family in the war and hope they win the war for something in return for the suffering.
I think neighbors are just an old ordinary person who lives near you or beside you. They always find ways to annoy you, and are not familiar with personal space. Most of the time you want your neighbor to go away of move out, but when you are not mad at them they're like family.
If there was a war in my neighborhood my first approach would be to warn everyone who I care about and tell them to run for safety. My next approach would be to find a safe spot to hide and become safe from any bombs or guns.
Number The Stars
I predict it will be about a Jewish people and family's trying to escape from Denmark to avoid an invasion from Germany. It will probably include people working together to prevent any conflict with Germany, and people who are neutral helping the Jewish people from getting killed. Along the way we will probably see who takes which side and why.
Mama says, "be one of many." I think this means being a part of the crowd and not stand out from one another. For example, if you stand out you must blend in with other people to not be seen.
I believe that Mama said this to help Annemarie not be seen by the guards and come with suspicion that they are neutral in the war and hiding an illegal news paper.
"Well," Annemarie said slowly,"now I think all of Denmark must be a bodyguard for the Jews, as well."(page 25)
It would feel like all of this weight is on your shoulders and it can't be lifted from until you have done your job. The Johansens would probably do anything in there power to help the Jews and get them to safety, but it wouldn't be easy.
(1) Near the end of chapter 3 Annemarie felt calm, but she was also lost. She didn’t know whether she wanted to die for the king or save herself, so in this chapter she felt tentative.
(2) In chapter 5 Annemarie felt frightened and she was afraid. She is afraid because 2 officer were looking for the Rosen’s and Ellen was one of them. She had to yank Ellen necklace of so the wouldn’t get caught she Near the end of chapter 3 Annemarie was calm and tentative at the same time. Which means you would compare the two.
(3) I think that it will bring them closer because having that imprint means that she has something to remember Ellen by so that she will always remember her. Also the Star Of David means a lot to Ellen and to have Annemarie have that on her hand something to her ( a lot ).
We just read a part of the book where Mama taking the Rosens to the boat a when she was coming back she broke her ankle when she tripped. When Annemarie and her mom got inside she found a packet that Peter gave Mr. Rosen that he was supposed to give to Henrik but when the left Mr. Rosen tripped and it fell out of his pocket. Therefore Annemarie had to run and give it back to them on the way she encountered 4 soldiers with 2 dogs.
Therefore, I predict that Annemarie will pretend to be a stupid little girl like her Mama said, but it will be harder than she expects. If the dogs sniff her bag they might come with suspicion and Annemarie will get caught and will never give the packet to them in time .
Man VS. Man
In the beginning of the book one of the German solider's grabbed Annemarie's sister Kirsti's hair. Annemarie then quietly told her to stay still but she didn't listen. Instead she loudly shot back at the solider and said, "don't." and they began to laugh . The soldiers then told them to go home. When they got to the building where they live Ellen Asked if she was going to tell her mom but Annemarie didn't want to. When she got in it was already to late. Kirsti had already told mom the story and afterwards her mom was concerned.
I know this is man vs man because one of the characters has a problem with the enemy. I also know this because Kirsti was so aggravated when the solider touched her hair.
Man vs. Self
When Annemarie was in bed and slowly falling asleep she thought to herself and wondered of she would die to protect Ellen. This got her really thinking. Yet she couldn't answer it because she wasn't sure if she would. She felt frightened over this thought. Later she admitted to herself that she saws glad to be ordinary and never called upon for courage.
I know this is man vs. self because this is what the character is thinking and your thoughts come from yourself. I also know this because this is what the charter is feeling.
Man vs. Nature
In a part of the book Mama , Annemaries's mother, was supposed to take the Rosen's to the Docks and be home by 3:30. After 3:30 she wasn't home so Annemarie went looking for her , and she found her on the ground lying there. When she got back inside she told Annemarie that she had tripped over a tree root because she was running to get home to the girls. She had also explained how she had got the Rosen's to the Docks safely.
This is man vs. nature because Mama tripped over a tree root and a tree root is a part of nature. I also know this is because she wasn't tripped.
Man vs. Society
In the book Annemarie was stopped by four soldiers and 2 dogs. They wanted to know what she was doing in the woods this early in the morning. They went through her basket and found the packet that contained the one thing that could save them. Before this happened her mom told her to act like a stupid little girl. The soldiers were skeptical and Annemarie was noticed, and she was frightened.
I know this is man vs. society because there is 6 against 1 and Annemarie is alone. I also know this because the soldiers were against her.
"When it comes to protecting your loved ones, take the right path."
I think this theme means to make a good choices to protect your loved ones. Which will then help you move father along your own path to your goal. The things that have been found in the book when Mama had to take the Rosens to the Dock instead of having them going on there own so that they don't take any wrong turns. Also in the beginning of the story when Annemarie and Ellen were stopped by soldiers and they had to say the right things otherwise they could be in deep trouble.
