William Shakespeare was born on April 23, 1564 in Stratford-upon-Avon, United Kingdom. William Shakespeare was the son of John and Mary Shakespeare, he was also the oldest of three brothers.

Scholars believe that William Shakespeare attended school at King's New School, in Stratford, here he developed his reading and writing skills.

In late 1582 William Shakespeare married Anne Hathaway, during the time of the wedding Shakespeare was 18 while Anne Hathaway was 26.

Anne Hathaway already had her first child Susana before her and Shakespeare were married, later in 1585 Hathaway and Shakespeare had twins, Judith and Hamnet, Hamnet who was William Shakespeare’s only son sadly died at the young age of 11 in 1596.

In 1594,William Shakespeare joined the Lord Chamberlain’s company of actors, which at the time was one of the most popular of the companies acting at Court. In 1599, William Shakespeare joined a group of Chamberlain’s Men that would form a syndicate to build and operate a new playhouse, the Globe. The Globe became the most famous theater of it’s time.

While Shakespeare was regarded as the foremost dramatist of his time, evidence indicates that both Shakespeare and his partners looked to poetry, not play writing, for fame.

Shakespeare wrote more than thirty plays. These are usually divided into four categories, histories, comedies, tragedies, and romances. In his poems and plays, William Shakespeare invented thousands of words, often combining Latin, French, and native roots. This list of words includes : birthplace, bloodsucking, downstairs, and hunchbacked.Only eighteen of Shakespeare’s plays were published separately in quarto editions during his lifetime.A complete collection of his works did not appear until the publication of the First Folio in 1623, seven years after his death.

Sometime after 1612, Shakespeare retired and returned home in Stratford. Shakespeare later died on April 23, 1616, and was buried at Stratford Church.
