Maryland (18) vs William & Mary (7)

February 11, 2018 - College Park, MD

Despite losing Tewaarton midfield superstar, Zoe Stuckenberg, #1 Maryland opened the 2018 season with a strong win against William & Mary on a wet but no snow Sunday. The Terps entered half-time with a 15-2 lead giving Head Coach, Cathy Reese, an opportunity to play her bench.

Megan Whittle (Sr) and Caroline Steele (Jr) led the attack with four goals each. Midfielders Jen Giles (Jr) and Louisville transfer, Meghan Siverson (Jr), added another three and two goals each. Freshman midfielder Grace Griffen (Fr) scored in her first collegiate game as the #16 ranked recruit by Inside Lacrosse.

Megan Taylor (Jr) started in goal with Freshman goalie Madison Hine (Fr) also seeing playing time and recording three saves. Julia Braig anchors the Terps defense and will assume the role of mathcing opponet's top attackers.

Next Game

The Terps will definitely be tested in their next game against #5 Florida on Saturday, Feb. 17 in Gainesville. The Florida Gators won their first game this season against #17 Colorado 16-9. Stay tuned for more In Season reports as we follow the Lady Terps on their quest for another NCAA title.
