IoT platforms and the simultaneous progress of transportation

The Internet of Things (IoT) can be defined as the technology that improves and advances objects which transmit information. This technology is attributed to different qualities such as sensing, monitoring as well as reacting to human behavior. In order to activate this a medium is needed and that is called IoT platform.

One of the hottest topics in the world of technology and advancements right now is the development and integration of IoT platforms. They are already a big part of our lives without us even realizing it, but the way science is thinking it is about to become an exponentially bigger part in the next decade. In the last decade alone we can observe the huge advancements the world went through. Our lives are changing only a daily basis.

Transportation for instance is a huge part of our lives and it is one of those industries that can have a huge impact on lifestyle. Its integration with IoT platform was predicted. If it changes a huge impact will be relayed upon our lives. Although just a fraction of its true potential is presently being applied, there a lot of potential that is about to unravel in the coming years.

The telecommunication giants AT&T from the United States only recently informed that they had added 2.1 million new wireless lines in the last quarter. However, only about half of these were for people. The other half was actually installed for cars. The story connects with the merging of two industries, automotive and telecommunication. It was recently also confirmed that General Motors and BMW were introducing cars which are LTE enabled.

By the looks of it we are at the cusp of breaking into another Golden Age, which is possible with the integration of IoT platforms into our daily lives. Transportation hence is an important part of that integration and at heart the true motive behind that is to make travelling easy and efficient.

A study conducted recently predicted that by the year 2030 there will be almost 50 billion devices connected through IoT platform. If that is just the beginning we are clearly standing at a fraction of a fraction of the progress we can achieve and if we do we can solve many problems that our generation is facing.

There aren’t a lot LTE cars on the road right now, but with the growing attention of other automotive giants it won’t be long before this become a starring feature in their production as well. The activity of integration IoT platforms into the market will be hugely beneficial for the industry as it would allow them to pull data and understand their consumers; henceforth bringing forth more optimized and efficient products and services.
