The Weston Weekly January 29, 2021

Happy Friday! It looks as if we may get some snow this weekend. Please scroll down and read through the changes made to our inclement weather days. Have a wonderful weekend!

Spring Break Travel: When considering your spring break travel, please read below for important information regarding current travel restrictions. On January 26, 2021, the CDC issued an order regarding COVID-19 testing prior to boarding a flight for re-entry to the United States when traveling back from a foreign country (USVI and Puerto Rico are included on this list). Additionally, there are post-travel quarantine guidelines for each country, which apply even if crossing a border via any transportation method. Information can be found on testing requirements and on post-travel quarantine guidelines by clicking on each country found here: CDC Map and Travel Notices

Please keep these guidelines in mind when making any upcoming travel plans. Students and staff traveling outside of the US will be expected to adhere to the current requirements regarding quarantine periods and testing.Additionally, you should not travel if you are sick, have suspected or been diagnosed with COVID-19, or have been around someone with suspected or diagnosed COVID-19 in the past 14 days. Doing so may spread the disease to others unnecessarily. The When to Delay Travel document is an excellent resource to help you determine if you should stay home.Thank you for taking the time to review this important information. ~ Dawn Hanson, BSN, RN - Corporation Nurse Greenfield-Central Community School Corporation. Inclement Weather Virtual Learning

This year, inclement weather days will be very different for our students. Please be sure to read below. Your classroom teacher will be in contact with a more specific schedule for your student on those days.

Inclement Weather - In the event of inclement weather this year, we will continue to use the virtual learning model so that new instruction can be delivered and the year not be extended to make up for the missed day(s). Unlike with past snow days, we will be utilizing more “live” instruction which will mirror a typical school day. During a snow day, your students day will begin at 8:30 am and all instruction will conclude by 2:00pm. Your teacher will contact you with more specific information when the need arises.

Blessing Boxes: Two new blessing boxes have been placed at Riley Park, near the tennis courts. One is for food and the other for toiletries. Donations to the boxes are welcome, and there is no charge to use the boxes.

Journey Bags: Journey Bags is a local organization that provides a week's worth of new and gently used clothing and hygiene products for children in need. If your child is in need of more clothing (no coats) or you would like more information, contact Tammi Caldwell at 812-473-6451.

Helping Kids with ADHD: As the pandemic continues to restrict all of our lives, many families that have children with ADHD are struggling in the remote learning environment. This can be especially hard on those who were thriving before their classrooms, activities and supports were disrupted. Child Mind Institute offers ways to help attention-challenged students stay on track here.

Rose-Hulman's Homework Hotline: The free homework help site is expanding its offerings for middle and high school students by adding video tutoring to their options. The new service will run from 7-10 PM, Sunday-Thursday to start with. Click here for more information.

Box Tops: Thank you to all families who are contributing General Mills Box Tops to our collection program or who are using the Box Top app. General Mills is slowly transferring all collections over to the Box Top app. and so we are asking our families to begin using it as often as possible.

The Box Tops app is very convenient as it can be used to scan your store receipt, find participating products, and instantly add cash to Weston's earnings online. The Box Tops app can be downloaded at the Apple App. Store. More information is available at https://www.boxtops4education.com/
