Superintendent's Notes December 18, 2020

HAPPY WINTER BREAK! We have conquered the first semester of the 2020-21 school year. It is said that adversity makes us stronger and I believe this to be true. Our team, with the highest degree of professionalism and integrity, has handled this semester with determination and grace! I am proud of our Sandite Spirit and our heightened focus on the IMPORTANT work we do! Please enjoy the HOLIDAYS with your family and get some much needed rest and relaxation.

There's nothing better than spending some time in service together! Thank you to the Arnold Family and Ms. Beth Shope for taking the time to ring the bell for the Salvation Army!

We are opening up our Early Learning Center to support staff who may need a day care option. The Early Learning Center Survey was distributed earlier this week to see who would be interested in this option for their younger children. If you are interested and have not taken the time to complete it, please click on the survey link above and let us know!

Ms. Wilson's class studied Christmas around the world this past week. This day came complete with a piñata and surprises inside!
Hello to Ms. Jerie Carter's class at Angus Valley! Ms. Carter, along with her co-conspirator Ms. Marshall, are notorious for impromptu singing arrangements that you can find on social media. The latest one is posted on the Angus Valley Facebook page and is worth the time to listen! On this day, however, Ms. Carter's students were well on their way to a day of learning!
This group at Pratt Elementary entered the Gingerbread Contest through the Tulsa Regional STEM Alliance. Their project was a re-creation of the Red Square in Moscow! They did lots of research to mimic the beauty of the area AND had to figure out the best medium to use to replicate the architecture! Great job!!
PE is definitely a FAN FAVORITE at Limestone Technology Academy! Thank you to Ms. Kim Crosier for allowing me to sample some of the healthy movement and fun!
Yes, you are seeing office spaces in Ms. Jennifer Smith's class at Northwoods Fine Arts Academy as students begin their early morning academic day! Very innovative!
Congratulations to Mr. Brian Thompson for completing his DOCTORATE degree this semester! We are proud of you!!
The students and staff at the Early Childhood Education Center certainly know how to celebrate the holiday spirit. I'm thinking it may be time to revamp my own wardrobe for some holiday attire!
The new gym and storm shelter is well under way at Angus Valley Elementary. This is a photo of the new footing and the slab will be poured right after the new year! It is certainly fun to watch progress happen at each of our sites! Thank you to the voters of Sand Springs for making this possible!
Garfield 5th grade experienced Camp Brain Day where the teachers transform their hallway and classroom into project based activities. Students work to apply knowledge to challenged their critical thinking skills. Big time investment for teachers yielding big results for students! Photo credit - Ms. Sarah Coonce!
The Annual Ugly Christmas Sweater Day at Charles Page High School was no disappointment this year. Even covid could not ruin the holiday spirit that is alive and well at CPHS! We LOVE this group!!

Let us never forget that the work we do is CRITICAL, and let us all maintain the Sandite Spirit of integrity and service through all times good and all times challenging. I love this district, this community, and this work! May each of you have an INCREDIBLE Winter Break! ~Sherry
