1 Samuel 16:1 Jesse and his sons came to the sacrifice, Samuel looked at Eliab and thought, "Surely the LORD's anointed is here before him." But the LORD said to Samuel: "Do not judge from his appearance or from his lofty stature, because I have rejected him. Not as man sees does God see, because man sees the appearance but the LORD looks into the heart."

This means to not focus and judge on the outer appearance but what is the internal intentions. I personally apply this to be one of my close values. Many people are chastised and condemned for what has been said about them, most are lies and deceit because others are cruel, but when I meet people I see people for who they are. I believe that everyone should not be judged off of looks or what has been heard about them but that people should be judged by what actions they really portray and intentions and beliefs that they carry.

John 9:1-41 As Jesus passed by he saw a man blind from birth. His disciples asked him, "Rabbi, who sinned, this man or his parents, that he was born blind?" Jesus answered, "Neither he nor his parents sinned; it is so that the works of God might be made visible through him. We have to do the works of the one who sent me while it is day. Night is coming when no one can work. While I am in the world, I am the light of the world." When he had said this, he spat on the ground and made clay with the saliva, and smeared the clay on his eyes, and said to him, "Go wash in the Pool of Siloam" —which means Sent—. So he went and washed, and came back able to see. The Gospel

This Gospel focuses on the Miracle that Jesus performed to make a blind man able to see again. Jesus speaks about proclaiming the good news about him to be passed around to people during the day so that people will know and will pass it on more and more. So passing the good news of Jesus is like a daily job.

Eph 5:8-14 So be imitators of God,* as beloved children,a 2 and live in love, as Christ loved us and handed himself over for us as a sacrificial offering to God for a fragrant aroma.b 3 Immorality or any impurity or greed must not even be mentioned among you, as is fitting among holy ones,c 4 no obscenity or silly or suggestive talk, which is out of place, but instead, thanksgiving.d 5 Be sure of this, that no immoral or impure or greedy person, that is, an idolater, has any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God.e Duty to Live in the Light. 6 f Let no one deceive you with empty arguments, for because of these things the wrath of God is coming upon the disobedient.*

This particular reading reminds me of a teaching I received in youth group which covered over living through Christ with the eyes like a child. The teaching was mainly covering the fact that we should love and respect God blindly and fully like a child does for their parent. With this mentality, we come to depend heavily on Christ and Christ alone.
