Fred Page Cup Recap Day 3

Day 3 of the Fred Page Cup, being held at the Amherst Stadium on May 3, saw matches that pitted the Yarmouth Mariners of the MHL against the Ottawa Jr. Senators of theCCHL and the host Amherst Ramblers against the Princeville Titans of the QJHL

The Mariners took an early lead in the first period when Matt Barron scored at the 2:54 mark of the opening frame of Game 5.
Ottawa tied the game at the 12:55 of the second period on a goal by Andrew Remer. The Senators went up 2-1 a 10 seconds later when Owen Cole scored at 13:05. The Mariners' Brent Broaders scored the equalizer at 14:44 and the two teams went into the third tied at 2.
The Senators took over in the third period, scoring three unanswered goals giving them a 5-2 win over the Mariners. Scoring for Ottawa were Elie Boulerice at 8:02 on the power play, Kyle Jackson at 11:20 and Andrew Remer, his second of the game at 13:11.

Game 6 saw the Princeville Titans defeat the Amherst Ramblers 5-0, despite the stellar performance of goaltender Joel Goguen.

The Titans came at the Ramblers in waves, often pinning the host team in there zone for long periods of time, but due to Goguen's acrobatics, the Titans only entered the second period with a one goal lead. The goal was scored by Raphael Gagnon at 14:51 of the first.
The Ramblers had opportunities during the second period, but couldn't find a way to beat the Titans' Mathieu Bellmare. The Titans added to their lead, netting two goals by Alex Plamondon at 1:07 and 10:51 of the frame.
Goguen made several great stops during the game, but he couldn't stop the Titans, who scored two more in the third. Remer scored his third goal of the game at 7:18 of the period to give the Titans a four goal lead. Lantin-Goudreau, Marc-Olivier finished the scoring at 14:54 of the period.
Despite being scored on five times, Goguen was named the Amherst Rambler player of the game, while the player of the game for the Titans was Alex Plamondon.

The Titans' victory over the Ramblers gave them an unbeaten record during round-robin play and a bye into the final game on Sunday. The Ramblers and Ottawa Senators battle at 7 p.m. Saturday, May 4, in the semifinal to see who will face the Titan in the final.
