Directors' Message

“As 2016 draws to a close we reflect on a year that has once again seen significant change, some challenges and lots of positive outcomes. We have enjoyed seeing Newcastle’s continued revitalisation, and played a small part through the opening of our Hunter Street satellite office earlier in the year. We have mused over the recent US election results and their implications for our future, while closer to home it appears as though there are signs of life in the resources industry, which will be beneficial for the Hunter. We take great pride in continuing to support the community we live in and have provided assistance to the Mark Hughes Foundation, Nova, Surfaid and women’s Surfest during the year. We get the greatest kick of all however, in seeing some of the wonderful things our clients are achieving in their business and personal lives. It’s such a pleasure to work with you all and have the privilege to play a part in achieving some very positive outcomes. We look forward with anticipation to seeing what’s possible in 2017. In the meantime we wish all of you and your families a very merry Christmas and a happy and healthy New Year!”

ULTRA SWING LOUNGE RETURNS TO THE CIVIC

We love sharing our client stories and are often surprised and excited by what our diverse client base can become involved with.

One of the most professional shows ever to grace Newcastle Civic Theatre’s stage is making a comeback in February, 2017. The Hunter produced and directed ULTRA SWING LOUNGE is presented by Phil Collins, publisher/editor of the iconic “Hunter & Coastal Lifestyle Magazine” and one of Evolution’s very long standing clients . He is bringing back to the wide generational audience of fans all the glitz and glamour of the fabulous swing era with a few modern-day classics. There’s a 20-piece big band (with strings), massive lighting displays and set combined with the fabulous voices of the stars Daniel Stoddart, Rob McDougall and Steve Hudson. Rob recently starred a lead role in the Australian production of Les Miserable’s. Then to top it all off are Aric and Masha (Dancing With the Stars TV world champion) ballroom dancers with two of their colleagues. Add a tap dancer to the mix and you have it all. A fabulous non-stop two hours or more of fabulous music – a night to remember. It’s a Hunter Region production par excellence. Three shows only – 8pm Friday 24th February, 2pm matinee and 8pm show Saturday 25th February, 2017. Discounts for groups of 8 or more. A fabulous Christmas gift for family and friends. Plan a night out. Bookings at Civic Theatre Newcastle 4929 1977 or www.civictheatrenewcastle.com.au and members of the Evolution team will also be enjoying a night out where we hope to see you there.

Centrelink

On the 1st of January 2017 the Centrelink Assets test is changing, affecting the entitlements of many Aged Pension recipients across Australia. Some pension recipients may no longer be eligible to receive the Aged Pension under the lower cut off thresholds introduced by Centrelink. For some of you this may mean that your Pensioner Concession Card is no longer valid. Fear not! If your pension is reduced to nil by the new assets test, you will automatically be issued with a Commonwealth Seniors Health Card. Similarly, if you are under pension age and your non-pension benefit (such as Newstart) is reduced to nil, you will automatically receive a Health Care Card from Centrelink. These cards will allow you to continue to access government funded medical services and cheaper medications under the Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme (PBS), as well as other benefits such as electricity supplements and public transport discounts. A comparison of your benefits under the new scheme will be provided. These cards may take up to 14 days to reach you by mail. However, if you are caught without a valid card, you can still quote your Customer Reference Number (CRN) found on your old Pension Concession Card to receive your concession entitlements. This means that there is no need to wait for your card to arrive in the mail to visit your pharmacy or doctor. Just keep your Customer Reference Number handy and you will receive your concession benefits as normal.
