Mrs. Noll’s 2nd grade class held a Macy’s Thanksgiving Balloon Parade!

Third grade engineers in Mrs. Hartman's and Mrs. Yahn's science classes were given the task to “Design a structure to prevent New Orleans from flooding." They worked in teams to plan, create, and revise.

Mrs. Hartman's 4th grade science students were working diligently on erosion and deposition this week.

As a school, we delivered almost 700 cans of donated food to the MCSA! Way to go Franklin!

Mrs. Froelich’s 1st grade students enjoyed their hot chocolate for improving their attendance from September to October! They were one of eight classes! Congratulations students!

School-Wide Leadership Role Showcase!!! These girls are in charge of airing up all of the recess balls that are flat or deflated. This saves Mrs. Kulland so much time on days she is here and allows for students to still use the balls on the days that she not. In order to do this job, these two had to have some special training on how to put air in balls properly!

The Jefferson students have been practicing very hard for their holiday concert next week!

Jefferson's STEAM club worked on an egg drop experiment this week!

Madison Kindergarteners in Mrs. Swailes' class enjoyed sharpening the saw with our 5th Grade Leaders. Today we practiced our reading skills.

Madison 4th graders in Mrs. Willett's class worked hard with their teams to build turkey traps.

Madison Art Club participants are working on a ton of fun projects: our gingerbread man for the holiday stroll, shrinky dinks, and decorations for our holiday concert!

Mrs. Luna’s 1st graders enjoyed doing some yoga stretching and breathing with Mrs. Phelps.

Students in Ms. Pedersen's 2nd grade class were busy this week getting ready for a turkey race and practicing regrouping in math.

In Mrs. Phelps' yoga class. a 3rd grade yoga student enjoys picking out which pose he would like to learn next to be able do at home.

Check out Miss Niehaus' 3rd grade GT class at McKinley showing off their STEM project: note card towers.

Mr. Edkin's robotics students worked on spinning signs this week.

Mrs. Stogdill and Mrs. Walker's Pre-AP ELA 8 class participated in a debate on cell phone usage while driving. Both sides gave excellent arguments with strong evidence to support.

Mr. Yerington’s 6th grade science classes are learning how atoms re-combine in a chemical reaction by using models. Here, students are making physical models but they also used written models and drawings!

Mrs. Phelps, the district's yoga instructor, taught the weight lifting class how to use mind-body awareness during heavy lifting. Building strong muscles around joints will protect their bodies from injury while using breathing techniques to deepen flexibility in tight muscle areas, and the 7th period class learned about the benefits of body awareness with inversions.

Sunnybrook (Muscatine Senior Living) and their residents made a $304 donation to the Muskie Locker. Marilyn Smith an past teacher from Central Jr. High for 22 years made the presentation to Laura Koch and Matthew Rivera. Thank you Sunnybrook residents for your generosity!

Our Work Experience Trainee of the Week is junior Hannah Shield. Hannah is pictured outside of Family Video with the store manager, 2002 MHS graduate, Allyson (Peniston) Giovanazzi. Hannah is learning the workings of the video and electronic game rental business.

Family Video located at 901 Cypress Street has been serving the video and electronic gaming needs of area residents for the past 15 years. They can also now take care of your cell phone needs. We would like to thank Allyson and her staff for working with our students over these past many years.
