BEDLAM SWEEP THE SOONERS TOOK ROUND TWO FROM OKLAHOMA STATE BEHIND CLUTCH FREE THROW SHOOTING AND LOCKDOWN DEFENSE.

OU's defense held Oklahoma State to a .309 field goal percentage and limited the Cowgirls to a .250 clip from 3-point range Saturday afternoon.

The Sooners recorded six blocks and won the turnover margin by forcing the Cowgirls to 16 miscues in the win.

Gabbi Ortiz tied her season high with 17 points and hit six straight free throws down the stretch to seal the win for the Sooners. The junior has continued her strong play against Big 12 opponents and is averaging 10.8 points and shooting .438 from 3-point range in the league play.

Ortiz chipped in five rebounds and dished three assists against the Cowgirls. She has scored in double figures eight times in the last 10 games.

The junior guard set a career high with eight makes at the free throw line. Her 8-for-8 performance at the line is the second-best effort at the charity stripe by a Sooner this season.

The Racine, Wis., native also hit a trey for the fifth straight game. She leads the Sooners with a .432 3-point shooting percentage in Big 12 play.

Nancy Mulkey picked up two blocks in the win. She now ranks 10th in OU history with 55 blocks this season. Her total is the third-most by a Sooner freshman in program history.

Redshirt senior guard Peyton Little recorded 11 points and was an efficient 2-of-3 from deep against Oklahoma State. Little has 61 double-figure scoring games at OU and leads the Sooners with 13.6 points per game this year.

Little recorded a team-high four steals in the road win, just one shy of tying her season high.

Redshirt senior guard Maddie Manning chipped in 11 points on 3-of-7 shooting, while leading the Sooners with nine rebounds.

Manning led the Sooners in rebounding for the seventh time this year with a team-high nine boards. OU is 7-0 when Manning leads the way on the glass.

Freshman guard Chelsea Dungee poured in 10 points off the bench and tied her season high with a pair of 3-pointers.

OKLAHOMA TIED ITS SEASON-BEST 3-POINT SHOOTING PERCENTAGE BY FINISHING 8-FOR-16 FROM RANGE AGAINST THE COWGIRLS.

  • The Sooners now lead the series, 61-40, over Oklahoma State and are 23-21 all-time against the Cowgirls in Stillwater. In the Big 12 era, OU is 14-7 on the road at Oklahoma State.
  • The Sooners finished with a .500 (8-of-16) 3-point shooting percentage against Oklahoma State, matching its season high. It was OU’s best performance from deep against a Big 12 team this season and the second time this year it recorded a .500 3-point field goal percentage (vs. Xavier, Dec, 19, 2016).
  • For the sixth straight game, OU shot better than 80 percent from the free throw line, finishing with a .875 (14-of-16) clip from the line Saturday. Over the last six games, the Sooners are shooting .857 (87-of-102) at foul stripe. Gabbi Ortiz led the Sooners by knocking down all eight of her free throw attempts.
  • The Sooners are 16-0 this season when holding their opponent to 70 points or less.
  • Coale is 35-11 against Oklahoma State. OU has won 18 out of the last 24 meetings between the two teams.
  • OU improved to 13-0 this season and has won 34 straight games when posting a higher shooting percentage than its opponent.
