Gideon was sent to prison for a robbery, but he couldn't afford a lawyer and was convicted unfairly.

Two Sides

Gideon couldn't afford an attorney and the court didn't provided him with an attorney. He had to defend himself in court, so the trial was unfair.

Court Decision

The court ruled in favor of Gideon and deemed his trial unfair, then granted counsel.

How it Helped our country

In the end result this trial is what made it so that everyone can have a lawyer even if they don't have money
