Ohio State Concludes 2018 Preseason

The Buckeyes concluded a strong preseason at the Flyer Invitational with a thrilling five-set match against the tournament-champion Dayton Flyers. With perfect first and third weekends, the Buckeyes were named champions of the DC Koehl Sports Imports Classic and the Towson Invitational. Freshman Outside Hitter Vanja Bukilic and Sophomore Middle Blocker Lauren Witte made big contributions throughout preseason averaging 3.13 and 2.80 kills per set for the program. Lauren Witte’s .408 clip through twelve matches landed her in the Top-40 Hitting Percentages nationally.

Buckeyes Bounce #4 Penn State

St. John Arena was rocking Sunday, September 23rd as the Buckeyes took down #4 Penn State in front of an electric crowd. Freshman Outside Hitter Mia Grunze earned her first career double-double (12 kills, 13 digs) while Jordan Fry and Lauren Witte added 11 and 10 kills in the middle. This win marks the highest ranked team the Buckeyes have defeated since beating #1 Nebraska in October of 2016.

León, Schirmer, and Wenz Competing Beyond Scarlet & Gray

Ohio State All-Time Career Digs Leader Valeria Leon is currently participating in the FIVB World Championships in Japan as the Libero for the Puerto Rican National Team – She is getting great experience on a big volleyball stage! Former Buckeye Outside Hitter Luisa Schirmer recently signed with AEK Larnaca in Cyprus for her second professional season and is enjoying the great weather and competition. 2017 Senior Opposite Ashley Wenz is using her fifth-year of eligibility to play Beach Volleyball at Arizona State University while pursuing her Master’s degree in Business Administration. We wish all of our alumni continued success both on and off the court!
