End Child Marriage By:Terry KOlacki

Our Goal

Our goal is to re-instate the bill H.R. 2103, due to the major problems child marriage brings to the world. The practice of child marriage does not fall under cultural relativism because of dehumanizing factors towards women and children.

Girls who marry before the age of 18 are twice as more likely to experience domestic violence

Child Marriage, a formal or informal marriage before the age of 18. Reality for both boys and girls, but girls are taken advantage of more. They're often married illegally, and they’re often abused by their husbands. They’re basically slaves to their spouse.

The photos above are only scrapping the surface of how terrible child marriage truly is.

Important Effects

Women who undergo child marriage are more likely to have trauma from the marriage, like trauma of childbirth. They are often hurt permanently during childbirth, and are ostracized or are affected psychologically from the experience.

The Health risks for Women

Underdeveloped bodies of girls are not prepared for childbirth (which could lead to maternal mortality or miscarriages

HIV/AIDS is Very Prevalent

The use of contraceptives in some cases is culturally unaccepted or unknown due to lack of education.

Strategies

Education for Women

By supplying an education for women, instead of having them leave early to marry, they would be aware of the effects child marriage has on the population and will push to put an end to it.

Destroying Cultural Norms

By destroying the cultural norms and pushing the idea the child marriage is NOT a part of tradition and should not be connected to heritage, it will have no reason to persist, and will come to a close, as more efficient ways of marriage will be found.

Community Programs

By starting community programs and protests against child marriage, we can influence the citizens that child marriage is wrong, and we can also emphasize more efficient and easier ways of marriage, and opportunities for women.
