The Style of Bruno Mars

Bruno Mars. Award-winning singing sensation and dancing machine. He is not arguably good. He is undeniably fantastic and shows signs of so much potential. Mars is incredibly talented and it is an absolute delight to watch his performances. He and his band, The Hooligans, have definitely carved out a niche in music and entertainment that is all their own for this generation and we can only ask for and hope to expect more.

But who is showcasing the style? Who is focusing on the obvious, eccentric, unique style of Mars and the Hooligans? They have style and a swag. A look. And it's hot! Exciting and alluring are the words that come to mind. Again one cries for more. Give me more!

After busting out onto the scene as a producer in 2009, Mars released his first studio album Doo-Wops & Hooligans in 2010. He recorded his second album Unorthodox Jukebox in 2012, and his third album 24K Magic in 2016. Now, three albums, more than seven hit singles that have topped the charts internationally, and four Grammy Awards later, Mars is a star.

Mars is one of the best-selling artists of all time and is often listed along with and compared to Elvis Presley, Michael Jackson, James Brown, and Prince.

James Brown (1933-2006)

Michael Jackson (1958-2009)

Prince (1958-2016)

A little research shows that Mr. Mars has in fact been dubbed a style icon. He has been featured in and on the covers of Billboard, Entertainment Weekly, Forbes, GQ, In Style, Latina, Music Connection, Notion, Playboy, Rolling Stone, and Vibe magazines. A trend-setter is what he is and he and his band deserve more credit for their uniqueness and originality. However, in an article featured in Billboard back in April 2012, Mars said he had no plans for starting a clothing line. Instead he chooses to stay true to his dream of making music. “That's not what I'm trying to do," said Mars. "It's like, ‘Don't be a [expletive]. Remember your dream. Do your music and keep it special.'"

"When I see your face there’s nothing I would change ‘cause you’re amazing just the way you are."

Well it is 2017, five years later and he may be rethinking that notion or will have to be advised to start. Many have already started donning his signature style. And after performing at the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show in a fur coat and high heel Christian Louboutin boots, Mars my brother, you are going into fashion.
