Ford Next Generation Learning Update

Ford Motor Company’s Next Generation Learning (NGL) program is a unique and comprehensive community initiative that brings together educators, employers, and community leaders to implement a proven model for transforming secondary schools, which ultimately improves the regional workforce development system.

In September 2016, a diverse group of 65 individuals including educators, business representatives, and post-secondary education leaders, also known as the Steering Committee, began the process of drafting a Master Plan to submit to the Ford Next Generation Learning Network on behalf of Greater Clark County Schools. The Master Plan was completed and submitted in February 2017 and GCCS is excited to announce the plan was approved.

Joining the Ford NGL network is a tremendous opportunity that will enable Greater Clark County Schools to evolve its successful College and Career Readiness efforts by creating sustainable systems of community engagement and secondary school transformation. The goal of the district is to begin the transition to Ford NGL model during the 2017-18 school year, with full transition to the career academy model during the 2018-19 school year. The career academy model that will increase relevancy for students and better prepare all students for post-secondary opportunities by creating direct pathways to regional colleges and businesses. Ford NGL will transform education, it will transform our region's economic development and transform our community.

The Ford NGL Designation of Greater Clark County Schools will be held on Wednesday, March 15th at 9:30am at Charlestown High School. A celebration will be held at Amatrol from 4:00pm to 6:00pm.
