Headteacher Weekly Update 11/3/19 - 15/3/19

Staff and pupils are taking Makaton signing to a new level across the school. Makaton is a language programme using signs and symbols to help people to communicate. It is designed to support spoken language and the signs and symbols are used with speech, in spoken word order.

I was delighted to be picked a star signer from Alan Frew.

Vision and Values

Alloa Academy have been working with the school community to update our Vision and Values. Pupils and staff have worked together to establish four top designs that will displayed across the school.

Mr McGhee has coordinated the work that has seen every pupil, member of staff, many partners and parents to have their say. I think the design look great and I look forward to seeing the wining design across the school.

Clackmannanshire Sports Awards

Well done to the pupils and staff who took part in the Clackmannanshire Sports Awards.

It is great to see Alloa Academy do very well with Mia Mitchell wining the Young Leader/ Volunteer Award (senior) and the Alloa Academy Badminton Team wining the Secondary School Team of the Year. Outstanding!

Rights Respecting School

On Alloa Academy TV this week Mr Lynch highlights the importance of Children Rights Article 19 - Support. These videos are a fantastic way to share the important message.
