Your Itinerary

June 5, 2022

Depart from local gateway where you will board your flight for Quebec City, Canada. We've arranged for private transfers to pick you up and take you to our beautiful retreat for the week.

Everyone will be arriving on different flights from all over the country so feel free to check-in to your incredible accommodations for the next 6 nights - Le Monastere des Augustines, have some lunch or refreshment in their cafe, and stroll the area and explore independently. This evening, we'll meet for a welcome reception in our private banquet room at Le Monastere with lite bites and assorted beverages, including wine.

Le Monastere was founded in 1639 by the Augustinian Sisters, who traveled to Quebec from France. Through the centuries, the sisters worshipped and lived at the monastery. They also worked as healers and eventually nurses in the attached hospital. The onsite museum has 1000 items from its collection of 40,000 artifacts on display. The exhibition traces the history of the Augustinian Sisters, their social involvement and their work caring for the sick, as well the evolution of medicine through the ages.

In more recent years, though, the sisters numbers have fallen. There are now only eight left. They still live at Le Monastere des Augustines – if you stay here, you will probably meet them as they walk the halls in their white habits. Although Le Monastere des Augustines is a non-religious place of rest for all people, the Augustinian Sisters do still live and worship here (in their original church, which the hotel is ingeniously constructed around). Their vespers services are held each evening, where the eight sisters sing hymns together. Regardless of religion or spirituality, it is a very meditative and special thing to witness.

"We welcome guests from around the world, from every culture and every religion. We approach spirituality from a historical and cultural perspective. While no form of worship is offered to guests within the activities of Le Monastere, everyone is free to live their spirituality in their own personal and private way."

We will be staying in the Contemporary section where each single or double occupancy room has a private bathroom and features either a King, Queen or 2 Single Beds.

In keeping with the "Let's Unplug" environment in this restored former cloister, there are no televisions on property. This is a completely non-smoking environment.

Today is going to be a full day of wellness and relaxation! Begin with your included Vitality Breakfast which is in silence, a morning ritual in harmony with the site’s historic vocation.

We will take an hour to be guided on a private tour of the Museum and Heritage site (approximately 1 hour) this morning. After our tour, enjoy the Spa or program activities or, feel free to explore the neighborhood, cafes and restaurants, and quaint shops right outside our door!

This afternoon, continue to experience the Spa and the programs at Le Monastere. Lunch is on your own and we highly recommend the cafe inside the monastery. You might also choose to venture out into Old Quebec City and enjoy the cuisine at local cafe.

This evening, we've arranged for a private Tibetan Bowl Concert in the 1695 Historic Vaults - you absolutely don't want to miss this! The use of the Tibetan bowl allows deep relaxation and effective stress management, and is also a great complement to yoga and meditation. A meditation concert is the perfect opportunity to take a break. Let yourself be transported through the wonderful ancestral tools that are Tibetan bowls. A time period is allocated after the concert to discuss with the artist and experience the instrument.
