We are delighted to invite you to join a small group of Australian Christian education leaders on a life-changing cultural awareness study tour to Palm Island North QLD in August 2017 at our expense. Our invitation also includes attending an Information Breakfast to be held at the National Policy Conference in May 2017.

Join us as we travel to Indigenous communities across Northern QLD giving you the opportunity to hear stories from Indigenous people and explore:

  • The realities of life in Indigenous communities today.
  • How past events continue to impact Indigenous people.
  • The importance of Indigenous culture and how it relates to each of us.
  • The responsibilities we all have as Australians.
  • How we can support each other to educate and raise awareness of Australian children.

Education leaders have a unique role to play in ending the disconnect between Indigenous and non-Indigenous Australians. We believe this trip will help you discover how your school organisation can prepare teachers to better plan and implement authentic Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives in the curriculum.

Australians Together is a not-for-profit organisation passionate about ending the disconnect between Indigenous and non-Indigenous Australians through respectful relationships and connections. We support learning for leaders to develop and shape the Australian curriculum with a goal to educate and inspire the next generation of Australians. It is vital however, that educational leaders themselves understand our shared history and have an opportunity to listen and learn first hand.

Your hosts for the trip will be Stewart Bogle, Executive Director, Dr Susan Starling Head of Education and Richard Cassady, Relationships Manager. They will provide opportunity for deep discussion, reflection and ways to better develop teacher cultural awareness in our respective organisations.

The Australians Together team is looking forward to sharing this experience with you. We have hosted many similar trips for Australian leaders who report it deeply transformative. You will have time to listen, learn and share with others in a similar role to your own.
