How to Embed a Google Map in Your ePortfolio A Guide for Students and Faculty

Who is this for?

This guide is for anyone looking to embed a Google map into their ePortfolio.

Option 1: Embedding a Google map

Step 1: Open Google Maps. Then click on the collapsed menu icon in the upper left-hand corner. (See image 1)

Step 2: From the dropdown menu, select the “Share or embed map” option. (See image 2)

Step 3: In the “share” window that pops up, copy the share link. (See image 3)

Step 4: In your ePortoflio, click the “Add Content” link or the blue “+” icon to access your library. (See image 4)

Step 5: In the Library, select the “Embed” tab and from the list of modules that appear, select the “Google Maps” module. (See image 5)

Step 6: In the “Add Content” window, paste the copied link in the “Submit your Link” text field. Once your map shows up, click the “Embed” button to add it to the page in your ePortfolio. (See image 6)

Option 2: Embedding a Google map you created

Step 1: Open the google map you created and click on the collapsed menu icon. (See image 7)

Step 2: From the Dropdown menu select the “Embed on my site” option. From the window that pops up, select and copy only the highlighted text. (See images 8 and 9)

Step 3: Follow the steps 4 through 6 of “Option 1” of this tutorial to embed the Google Map in your ePortfolio. (See image 10)
