Wedding Guide The Wedding Experience - Jmeg Photography

Congratulations on your engagement! I am so happy you're here! I hope to answer any and all questions you have in this guide! If for some reason your question is not answered, please feel free to reach out so we can discuss it!

Hey, hey! I'm Megan and I'm the eye behind the lens! Thank you so much for considering me to capture your special day. I am thrilled to get to know you and have the opportunity to document one of the most important days of your lives.

As a full-time photographer based in Rochester, MN, I specialize in outdoor, on-location shoots and enjoy traveling worldwide. Every wedding is the start of a beautiful adventure and I can't wait to be a part of yours!

I believe the best experiences come from someone you can connect with, so before I get to know you, I'd love to share a little about myself so you can feel assured that we're a good fit!

When I am not pouring my heart into my work, you can find me anywhere outdoors, hanging out in a coffee shop, or nuzzled on the couch snuggling with my son. I enjoy exploring new places, cheesecake, pine trees, cats, sleep, coffee, and above all - time with my son, Ellis. My happy place includes waking up early, wrapped in a cozy blanket with a fresh cup of coffee to watch the sunrise (preferably by a lake or in the mountains). I have a soft spot for outdoor, small intimate concerts, morning hikes, and kayaking.

I take a storytelling portrait style in my work that's meant to reflect the beauty and individuality of you and your loved ones. I am inspired by romance, intimacy, nature and seek to capture true emotion giving you an end-product that is real and authentic.

I'm sure your mind is racing with all that needs to be planned. Wedding planning is so exciting but can also be somewhat overwhelming. My goal as a wedding photographer is to make this one aspect of the planning process simple. Photography is so much more than just images, it's an experience, and it's the only part of your day that lives on. You deserve to have beautiful images from your wedding day, but to have a personalized experience from beginning to end.

Why invest? Your first decision as an engaged couple is to set priorities for your wedding planning. In other words, you have to decide what you value most. Is it the dress, the food, the venue? As a mama and photographer, I believe that couples should make photography their top priority. After the big day is over, you will leave your reception with your spouse and your pictures.. that's it. All of the planning, preparation and anticipation is over in a matter of hours!

If you're choosing to invest in high quality photography, those images deserve a classy, elegant home after the wedding. I offer hand-crafted, lay flat albums for my wedding clients. This is the perfect ending to your wedding experience and it's a keepsake that you'll be showing off to your children and grandchildren one day!

Albums begin at $1200

Choose between gallery wraps or framed prints to give your images a beautifully modern, fine-art look. Custom sizes and gallery groupings are available upon request. Wall art begins at $250.

Frequently asked questions

What sets you apart from other photographers? I am one of the most emotional people you'll ever meet. What this means is, I am emotionally connected to you as people, and to your wedding day as a whole. I invest my whole heart into ensuring everything goes smoothly for you. This connection allows me to see things that others may over look; the unposed, in-between moments. I love to have fun and encourage you to be playful and relaxed while interacting with your loved ones on your wedding day! I use natural lighting as often as possible. Instead of being intrusive, I allow my couples to engage with one another as they would on a regular day, and provide guided posing as needed.

I offer a full-service experience, including a timeline consultation, and a viewing + ordering appointment to help you choose the photographs you’d like to display in your home.

How many photographers will be there at our wedding? That will depend upon your wedding day needs and desires, but I typically prefer to have two.

Do you photograph Elopements? Of course! Depending on availability and the number of hours you have set aside for photography, I have special rates for intimate weddings and elopements. I love the intimate setting created between a couple as they exchange vows in an alternative fashion. *Contact me to receive additional information on my elopement collections!

I'm not located in Rochester, do you travel at all? Yes, I absolutely love to travel! I have an adorable little dependent, so I'd need some notice to get everything in order, but if there's a special location you're set on, nothing will deter me from joining you. There will be an additional fee to cover travel expenses and this will vary, depending on where you go and the time of year.

What is your shooting style? I love to be both interactive and discrete throughout the day. I love meeting your families and interacting to ensure everyone feels comfortable in front of the camera. I teach all of my couples how to pose, model and interact throughout their engagement session, so they are naturals on the wedding day and don't need quite as much interaction from me.

Do I have to order prints through you? You don't have to, but I appreciate it so much when you do! The complete digital gallery is included with all wedding collections, and the print release allows you to print wherever you'd like. However, I do encourage printing through me, as it's the only way I can guarantee the quality and color consistency of the images, and I want nothing less for you!

I have provided a sample here so you can see the difference for yourself. xx

You and wedding guests will receive a 30% discount on prints for the first 30 days after your gallery is delivered. Your guests will be able to make any, and all print purchases directly from your online gallery and have their orders shipped right to their door! That way, you don't have to take on any added stress by being the middle man.

How long does it take to get my images back? You will receive your images 4-6 weeks after your wedding date. Products do take an additional 3-5 weeks to be delivered.

What equipment do you use? I love my Canons! I always carry the 5D Mark 3, as well as a variety of lenses. Most wedding days, I am equipped with: 50mm 1.2, 35 mm 1.4, 85mm 1.8, 24-70mm 2.8, and the 70-200mm 2.8.

How do we reserve our wedding date? Once you've decided you'd like to move forward with booking, I will send you a proposal, contract and invoice. You can save your date by accepting the proposal, signing your contract and providing a 50% retainer.

Once you book your wedding date and the retainer is paid, I will send you a detailed questionnaire and welcome packet. I want you to be as prepared as possible to have a fun, relaxed wedding photography experience!

Product Payment Plan Options

1.) You can choose the products you want for your home after your gallery is delivered. This option allows you to break your investment into installments of 2, 4, or 6 months. With this option, no products will be delivered until the final balance is paid in full.

2.) You can choose an amount you want to spend on products and packages prior to your wedding date and make payments with your overall balance leading up to your wedding day. This is our most popular option as it allows you to pay everything off prior to the wedding. With this plan, your order will be placed as soon as your images are selected, and your products will be delivered once we receive them.
