Schools within Richmond took part in a Music Concert on Wednesday 20th June at Richmond School. It was fantastic for the children within Year 4 and Year 5 to participate and the evening was superb; fantastic to see and hear all the schools coming together and create Music together. As the Lead Teacher of Music from Richmond School said to us all "Every single child represented themselves and your school terrifically! I hope it was an experience they will remember for a very long time". Thank you to all the staff at St Mary's who helped in preparing the children for the concert and to members of staff from St Mary's who accompanied the children on the evening.

Year 5 thoroughly enjoyed the countryside day at Harrogate Show grounds the beginning of June. The children learnt about herbs that can be used within different recipes, including some food tasting; they created a banner using paint from household products including washing power and they created pictures using flowers and leaves to produce the colour. The Highlight of the day was the sheep show at the end of day where the children were introduced to different varieties of sheep who performed a dance at the end of the show. As always the children displayed exemplary behaviour and wer great ambassadors for the school.

Year 2 and Year 3 had a fantastic time at the Chill Factore before half term. The trip involved ski lesson, activities in the snow and a visit to Old Trafford stadium. A HUGE thank you to the members of staff who led the trip and to the parent helpers who assisted throughout the day. A HUGE thank you is also extended to the parents and carers who were so patient and understanding with the appalling traffic conditions on the journey home. Well done to everyone on the trip who, despite everything, returned to school with HUGE smiles on their faces. On Monday 11th June Year 6 children went to the ICT department at SFX. The children were set a project to devise a robot that would help the elderly. The Year 6 pupils recorded an "apprentice style" pitch describing how their robot would benefit people and the roles it would perform. These recordings were entered into a competition at Sheffield University. The winners are yet to be announced, however Sheffield University would like to use some of the work in a presentation at the Robotics Showcase that is part of the International Business Festival 2018 in Liverpool. Well done to our Year 6, fantastic recognition for your hard work. Thank you to Mrs England and to Miss Simpson at SFX for giving the children this exciting opportunity.
