Dates to Remember
Now-December 9: WM will once again participate in the 31th Annual Hanover Foods Feed-A-Friend Marathon on WHVR 1280 AM. We would like to ask you to help WHVR and New Hope Ministries fight hunger in our community by supporting this year’s marathon. We are collecting canned and nonperishable food items to help out those in OUR community going through rough times. Students may also make a monetary donation ($1.00 will equal 3 canned food items). The grade level with the highest amount of donations gets to watch a movie, please help Kindergarten win!!
December 7- Shopper's Room: Your child may bring in money to purchase gifts for family members for Christmas. An information sheet with details came home from the PTO in November.
December 9- Report Cards Distributed (please sign and return report card envelope, any other papers in the envelope may be kept at home) Please remember that the "3" is our goal for the end of the year, so 1s and 2s are expected at this point. Any area that is blank has not been taught enough to be assessed yet.
December 13- Tie Dye Tuesday: Help us win the spirit stick by having your child wear something that is tie dyed!
December 20- Project Harmony T-Shirt Day or wear black and white
December 21- Fitness Fun Day: Wear workout clothes and sneakers
December 22- WM T-Shirt Day and Early Dismissal (AM 7:45-9:45; Extended Day dismissal is 12:30 PM)
December 23-January 2 Winter Break
This week in Kindergarten...
We will read lots of fun stories about gingerbread! Some will be variations on the original story, others will be very different! With these stories we will practice sequencing, comparing/contrasting and telling all the different parts of the story (character, setting, problem/solution, sequence of events).
We will learn the letters Qq and Zz.
We are working on tapping out the sounds within words to help us spell them in our writing and then this will help us as we start blending sounds to make the words (which will help us with our reading).
In math we will start continue working in our numeral writing books, work with attribute blocks, review shapes and practice graphing.
Any homework (quilt book, gingerbread decorating or cookie book) can be turned in at any time and we will share them all before the winter break.
We have introduced the following sight words so far: a, and, am, are, at, an, by, can, go, have, has, his, is, I, in, like, look, little, love, my, no, play, put, see, the, to, we, yes. Any support/practice you can give at home is appreciated!
