Newsletter Autumn/Winter 2020

As you all know, we've had a very eventful summer moving from our former location at the LSEC Nursery building in Woolwich to our brand new premises on Burrage Road which we expect to be a much more permanent home for us moving forward. We are so impressed with our new location and more so as we've had the opportunity to renovate and set it up in our own style. Also we have the most wonderful outdoor space, which is nothing less than a "Forest Childcare" provider's dream come true. We're excited to welcome you all back to the new nursery setting, with appropriate Social Distancing measures in place, subject to government guidelines. Thank all for your words of encouragement, patience and support.

We are very happy to introduce you to the full Dee's Childcare team. We would like to welcome Samantha, our new full time team member and you will also be seeing more of Hadijatou, as she has kindly agreed to increase her part time hours, particularly in the afternoons where she will plan and coordinate activities within the Butterflies Room. Grateful for the engagement and work of all team members, without whom Dee's Childcare couldn't operate at full steam. All team members have been assigned key children, so please make sure to ask who is your child's key worker and liaise with them for more information.

Covid-19 Safety Update

The safety of children, staff, and families is paramount. This is a learning process, and considerations may evolve and be built upon as the situation changes and new precautionary measures and practices may be introduced. It is important that everyone complies with the latest Government guidance on Coronavirus.

The key elements to keep everyone safe at daycare are:

Any pupil, staff member, parent or visitor with Coronavirus symptoms must not attend nursery and must isolate at home.

We will be taking children’s temperature every morning at drop off.

Increased cleaning processes are in place, throughout and at the end of the day

Children and team members will be social distancing as far as possible.

Children will stay in key groups (a bubble) each day.

Arrival and departure will be staggered and children will be dropped off at the entrance. Parents need to sanitize and while waiting outside please maintain social distancing.

Parents will not come on site or visit the daycare rooms unless this is explicitly arranged with the Daycare Manager e.g. in the event of a child being distressed.

Parents and staff members will wear masks during drop off and collection at the daycare.

Please Click Here to read our full Safety Guide.

During this second national lockdown and the uncertainty still regarding the Covid-19 pandemic, it is difficult to gauge the full impact that the corona virus and subsequent lockdowns is having on mental health and wellbeing of children and young people, as well as the adults. Fear and anxiety are possibly the most common emotional responses any of us will feel as we enter the release from lockdown. We encourage you to look after you and your children's mental health as much as you do for your physical well-being and don't be afraid to ask for help.

Christmas Festivities

This year, Christmas is going to be a bit different, when it comes to our usual activities. The families who've been with us for a few years, are familiar with our annual Christmas parties, where all the parents are invited to come celebrate with us, as we welcome Santa with his sack full of gifts, share the foods everyone brings and cheers toward another year full of adventures for the most important party guests - the children.

We still want to offer the children the joy and fun of the Christmas party so we will be having two smaller parties, per age groups. Sadly, we cannot invite our parents this year, as we have to follow government guidance and keep everyone safe.

To add to the fun, we would like to invite all the families to take part in our Secret Santa tradition.

Join in this festive fun tradition! At Dee's Childcare we want to ensure all children feel the joy of Christmas, so we want to continue to bring all our families together with a fun Secret Santa tradition that we know will bring a smile to all the children. The names of all the children will be placed in a hat (detailing, name age and gender) and one name picked per family. We will organize the gifting within the children rooms. We ask that each family gets a gift that costs no more than £10.00 for the picked child. Each gift needs to be brought in no later than Friday 11th December.

Annual Christmas Special Outing

Another Dee's Childcare tradition is to offer the children a special festive trip. Usually we take the Caterpillars and the Cocoons to visit Santa in Santa's grotto and the Butterflies to Ice Skating.

We have managed to find a place that is still open for Ice Skating and are still waiting for confirmation on the Santa's Grotto booking. Details will be given via the Parents Forum as soon as we will get confirmation.

Butterfly Room: Ice Skating at the Queens House Greenwich

As informed via the Whatsapp Parent Forum group, tickets cost £8.00 and we would like to go Friday 11th December at 5.30pm. Please confirm with Decima if you would like your child to attend.

Family Tree

Dee's Childcare started in my home and for many years, my family and I have shared our home with so many children, they have automatically become part of it. Even though we now operate from a different location, the family feeling is still there as many of our parents will testify. Therefore, we like to create a visual representation through a Family Tree. Please provide a family selfie via Whatsapp or email so that we can decorate the tree and include all the children and their families into the big Dee's Childcare Family Tree.

Learning outside the classroom

Dee's Childcare is an advocate for outdoor learning. We have a passion for delivering an outstanding outdoor experience, giving children the opportunity to engage in the great outdoors, whatever the weather.

Outdoor learning provides countless opportunities for children to develop problem-solving skills, self-exploration, decision-making skills, healthy living awareness, creativity, imaginative thinking and independence whilst learning to understand and love their natural environment.

Now, more than ever, we are spending more time in various outdoor locations, and we are asking all parents to provide us with the following items to keep here: + A minimum of one complete set of spare clothes + Wellington boots

When you drop your child off in the mornings, please be aware of the weather and always assume that we will be going outdoors that day. This means that if it's raining when you drop them off, please can you send a rain coat or splash suit. By the same token, in the winter please bring gloves, a hat and a warm coat. We will let you know if there are occasions where your child will need extra items.

Website update

We are working on updating our website www.deeschildcare.co.uk and would love for you to get involved by leaving a review. As you know, the best testimonials for any business are the ones that come straight from the customers. No matter if you've been with us for years or if you're a new parent, we would greatly appreciate you taking a few minutes to tell us what you think of our services http://www.deeschildcare.co.uk/what-our-parents-say/

We use an online system Baby’s Days, it is the the most advanced online software system, conforming fully with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework and designed and developed to assist childcare providers with the daily tasks of monitoring the children in our care. When signing your contract with us, you were informed that you were committing to login into the system weekly/daily which actively supports our aspirations and the Ofsted requirement of working in partnership with parents. The system provides parental access to view all policies and permissions, contracts, a child’s learning journal, daily notes with photos and videos, medical records, and invoices, to name a few.

The easiest way to use Baby's Days is to download the app on your phone and you'll be able to receive live notifications. If you need any help to do so, don't hesitate to ask one of our members of staff for help.

**It is a legal requirement that we complete learning journals inline with the EYFS for all children under 5, by entering into a contract you are committing to working in partnership with Dee’s Childcare by accessing and updating the system on a weekly basis**

New Daycare Before/After

Thank You

2020 has been a challenging year for all of us and we're nearly at the end of it. We would like to thank you for staying with us during all the events that happened.

The first national lockdown in March when we had to close our doors. We appreciate your support and continuing to work in partnership with us even during the disruption caused by the pandemic. Even though it was a difficult time, we will fondly remember our Zoom sessions, door step Easter Bunny deliveries and online games and competitions. We can only hope that we brought a smile for you and the children and that you felt encouraged and supported by our positive attitudes.

Cooking sessions via Zoom & Easter Egg Decorating Competition

The move and the transition period during the move into our new daycare. It has been a stressful journey but the end result was worth all the effort. The new location will hopefully be our residence for years to come and we are happy that we were able to participate in the renovation process and input our ideas and decorate it in our style. The final result is exactly what we aimed for and Dee's Childcare continues to be a place where children learn, play and grow. We pride ourselves on providing a quality, caring environment for children, where standards are high and independence is nurtured. All this in a clean, safe, loving, homely place where everyone is welcomed and feels valued and respected.

We wish you a peaceful festive period and we hope you have a safe and relaxing holiday season. Wishing you and your family health, happiness, peace and prosperity this Christmas and in the coming New Year.
