2018 McDaniel Field Hockey Week 4: September 18-24

Road Warriors

After playing back-to-back home games, the Green Terror hits the road for three of its next four games to close out September. October, however, will start with four home games in the first 17 days of the month. The only road trip during that stretch is the short trip to Johns Hopkins on Oct. 10.

Remember Your First

Jensyn Koontz registered her first collegiate goal on Saturday. The junior entered the contest with four assists but had not found the backboard until finishing a rebound in the 23rd minute.


9/19: McDaniel at Gettysburg, 4:00

The Bullets (4-1, 1-0 CC) enter the week on a four-game winning streak after falling 2-1 at Shenandoah in the season opener. Gettysburg topped Washington 2-1 in the conference opener Saturday on a Julia Soares goal in the 61st minute. Soares had both tallies in the game and leads the squad with five goals on the year. Grace Torrance was named CC Defensive Player of the Week last week after helping the Bullets shut out Alvernia and recording a defensive save and assist against the Shorewomen.

9/22: McDaniel at Swarthmore, 1:00

The Garnet (3-3, 0-1 CC) enter the week having dropped a pair of games last week, including 3-1 at Dickinson in the CC opener on Saturday. Halsey Hutchinson scored the lone goal for Swarthmore on Saturday, breaking up the shutout in the 59th minute. Ali Baratta leads the offense with three goals entering the week. Zelda Bank has an .850 save percentage and 1.72 goals-against average through the first six games of the year. After three straight road games, the Garnet are at home for four of its next five contests.

You’ve Got to Rebound

Both of the Green Terror’s goals on Saturday came on rebounds. Megan Quattrone staked McDaniel to a 1-0 lead just 4:06 into the game, cleaning up a saved shot by Paige West. After Quattrone’s shot was saved back out by a defender in the 23rd minute, Jensyn Koontz was there to knock it back home and tie the game.
