Welcome to the May publication of the Tampa Bay Sports Commission e-newsletter. This edition features a rewind of April's 2019 NCAA Women's Final Four as well as a look back at the ninth annual Tampa Bay Sneaker Soiree. Also, for the first time in major event history, the community was awarded the Evergreen sustainability certification by the Council for Responsible Sport for its sustainability efforts. Additionally, Replay Tampa Bay continued to "Help Keep Kids in the Game" with a basketball distribution at local youth facilities. The Event Development Institute recently announced details on the sixth Tampa Bay's Tailgate Taste Fest, while Sunset Music Festival, Warrior Games and the First Responder Games headline upcoming local events.

2019 NCAA Women's Final Four Rewind

Last month, the Tampa Bay area had the incredible opportunity to host its third NCAA Women's Final Four. True to form, #TeamTampaBay united to help create the most memorable week in the event's history. Thanks to the Super Saturday Concert, Bounce, Tourney Town, community service events, back-to-back sellouts (40,189 attendees), incredible finishes (combined 11 points between three games) and so much more, Tampa Bay helped create a lasting Impact, Impression and Legacy for visitors, fans and student-athletes alike.

The Tampa Bay Local Organizing Committee (TBLOC) is pleased to announce that for the first time in major event history, the community has been awarded the Evergreen sustainability certification by the Council for Responsible Sport as a result of an orchestrated effort during the 2019 NCAA Women’s Final Four. Tampa Bay Sneaker Soiree

On Thursday, May 9, The Tampa Bay Sports Commission hosted the ninth annual Tampa Bay Sneaker Soiree at TPepin’s Hospitality Centre. The Soiree once again recognized our local sports organizations' on and off the field achievements, while commemorating leaders and key influencers throughout the Bay Area.

Three awards highlighted the night. The Freddie Solomon Moral Courage Award was given to Alec Barklage of Tampa Catholic for his tremendous courage in the face of battling bone cancer, the Tom McEwen Community Advocate of the Year Award was presented to Rick Nafe for his outstanding support and advocacy of sports in Tampa Bay, and the Lee Roy Selmon Lifetime Achievement Award was given to the WWE.

Sunset Music Fest - May 25 & 26

Sunset Music Festival takes place at Raymond James Stadium (north lot) for two days on May 25 and May 26, 2019. The hotly anticipated lineup features a cross-section of genres including house, techno, trance, bass - and everything in between. With over twenty artists already announced and many more to be announced, the Sunset Music Festival is bound to be the most memorable summer festival yet!

Entertainment consists of a food competition with local restaurants serving up the most delicious tailgate foods Tampa has to offer, live music from local and national bands, a competitive corn hole tournament and, of course, live action from the day’s most exciting college football games shown on huge LED video screens! 2020 National Flag Football Championships COMES TO TAMPA BAY

Tampa Bay Lands 2020 National Flag Football Championships

Over 225 teams from over 25 states will converge on the new Tournament SportsPlex of Tampa Bay in January 2020 for the National Flag Football Championships. The National Flag Football organization boasts the largest youth national flag football tournament in the country and features boys 5v5 and 7v7 formats as well as girls divisions.
