Jesus remember me

Jesus remember me when you come into your kingdom.

with Andrew Yates.

This time of year the Christian Church celebrates Christ the King. The model of leadership that Jesus practises is very different from our normal expectations of a leader. The symbols of his monarchy included a wooden cross for a throne and a crown made of thorns - could not be a greater contrast to the recently elected 'leader of the free world' currently on the 65th floor of his tower with golden waterfalls.

As Jesus is dying on the cross one of those executed with him asks to be with Jesus in his Kingdom. What was it that made that man see in Jesus some form of Kingship? As he was being crucified Jesus had said about the soldiers 'Father forgive them'.

I am sure in these words that the other criminal was touched by the vision of a realm where the fundamental value was that of love. It was over this community that Jesus ruled...by example. And this was the kingdom he longed to be part of.

How might we today show we seek to be citizens of a kingdom ruled by love?
