A FEW OF OUR FAVORITES...

Perla's

Perla's nautically-inspired atmosphere complements the fresh oyster menu and Porch Punch, fostering sun-soaked vacation vibes. This laid-back spot dishing a Cape-Cod styled menu including super tasty oysters and lobster rolls. In addition to the airy, nautical-themed interior, there's a spacious deck overlooking South Congress that's great for people watching and cocktail sipping.

Matt's El Rancho

Matt's El Rancho is a true Austinite restaurant where locals often frequent, some on a weekly basis. The Martinez family is credited with opening the first Tex-Mex restaurant in Austin, a long-ago café that evolved into Matt’s, which dates from the 1950s. Among reasons that generations of Tex-Mex addicts keep these tables full is the renowned Bob Armstrong Dip (queso, taco meat, guacamole).

Uchi

It is not an overstatement to say Tyson Cole put Austin's culinary scene on the national map when he opened Uchi in 2003, serving authentic Japanese sushi in landlocked Austin. Chefs use traditional techniques, fish is flown in daily from Tokyo, and a few wildcard ingredients (like swapping fish for foie gras in nigiri). This is a bucket-list restaurant for diners, and a must try for tourists.

Red Ash

Big, bold Italian dishes are served up at this industrial-chic Downtown space with a central bar and concrete, graffitied walls. Its menu features both Northern and Southern seasonal specialties, housemade pastas, small plates and meaty wood-fired entrees – and there's an eclectic, Euro-centric wine list.

Franklin's Barbecue

A heavyweight in Austin’s barbecue scene, Franklin's draws lines that are as epic as their world-renowned brisket. The brisket has received accolades from Anthony Bourdain and the James Beard Foundation, though every cut of slow-cooked meat here is memorable—and not only because of the hours in line required to get them. Every die-hard barbecue lover must make the trip to Franklin's at least once.
