Matt's El Rancho
Matt's El Rancho is a true Austinite restaurant where locals often frequent, some on a weekly basis. The Martinez family is credited with opening the first Tex-Mex restaurant in Austin, a long-ago café that evolved into Matt’s, which dates from the 1950s. Among reasons that generations of Tex-Mex addicts keep these tables full is the renowned Bob Armstrong Dip (queso, taco meat, guacamole).
Uchi
It is not an overstatement to say Tyson Cole put Austin's culinary scene on the national map when he opened Uchi in 2003, serving authentic Japanese sushi in landlocked Austin.
