One Conversation

This week has been a rollercoaster mentally, up, down, up, down, up, down. Screw you Black Dog!!!! I really do wish I just woke up tomorrow and knew you weren’t there waiting to drag me into the black hole of hopelessness.

Family, friends, colleagues have really helped, most of them without knowing. A WhatsApp from Wifey, My Sister, Mum, Dad or just some regular office banter from my colleagues at work all helps. Listening to Radio X in the morning is also a good one, the Chris Moyles team and Toby Tarrant don’t appear to take anything too seriously, light hearted banter and jokes all lighten the load.

One message, call, email or instant message starts a conversation. It’s key not to underestimate how powerful that could be. Not everyone will want to break out in full conversation but, it’s a start and could change someone’s day.

That brings me to today. I woke up feeling dreadful but, pushed myself to take the dogs for a walk on a local field, the load lightened a little. I put my efforts into work and things become a little better but, not great.

Then came the afternoon. I spotted an internal post regarding some internal Mental Health Awareness drop in sessions next week for Mental Health Awareness Week and I felt something change. It was a chance to promote it and help others. I dropped an email out to a couple of departments to spread the word.

Then One response changed my whole day. One person responded to me to say thanks and it started a conversation between us. We’ve known each other for for a while but, I think that conversation helped the both of us end the week with a positive. It may not fix everything going on but, that One email resulted in One conversation and possibly further emails and conversations with others. It’s all about starting a conversation.

Have a great weekend y’all. If you can, start some conversations.
