March for Science held in the Philippines 'Avenge our reefs and forests'

Scientists, environmentalists and advocates commemorated the #MarchForScience in the Philippines, May 4, at University of the Philippines Diliman in Quezon City.

Participants bring along their dogs, adorned with small placards that highlight their calls.

This year's action focuses on the demand to protect the country's reefs and forests against plunder such as exploitative mining and reclamation projects.

Dogs of different sizes, breed and color join their humans.

" Hindi kami tuta ng kano, " (We're not lapdogs of China!) read one placard.

The activity is led by March for Science Alliance, Agham - Advocates of Science and Technology for the People, Kalikasan People's Network for the Environment and Climate Change Network for Community-based Initiatives (CCNCI).

Participants sign a pledge to protect the reefs and forests.
