1963 Birmingham Bombing

It was said that the bombing of Birmingham that killed four African American school girls caused the great Birmingham Riot.

What they fought

The goal of the Birmingham Riots was to set an example for other states that were in a crisis for civil rights. The civil rights community worked together in order to overcome the oppression of the white people and police.

impactful people

MLK lead the civil rights movement, Fred Shuttleworth was the soul of the Birmingham civil rights movement from all the times he's been beaten, stabbed, jailed repeatedly and had his church and home dynamited.

Today

The riots allowed for colored people to have better rights and got rid of segregation. Today a similar event like the Birmingham Riots is the Black Lives Matter movement.
