ABOUT ME
I am in my eighth year teaching at Lorca Elementary. I have always taught kindergarten; I love watching students learn to read and learn through play! I am a certified bilingual teacher and have taught in both English and Spanish.
In my free time, I enjoy cooking, reading, sewing, hiking, and spending time with friends and family. I look forward to getting to know you and your child!
EDUCATION
I earned a double bachelor's degree in English Literature and Spanish at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. After working as an aide in a kindergarten classroom, I went back to earn my Master's in Elementary Education, also from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. I have endorsements in bilingual education and English as a Second Language.
MISSION
We believe that all students, including students with disabilities and English Language Learners, can be successful when taught by teachers knowledgeable of college-readiness standards and who differentiate instruction to challenge and promote critical thinking.
GUIDING PRINCIPLES
1. Students access and acquire knowledge in a variety of ways.
2. All students deserve the opportunity to be successful learners among their peers.
3. Culture and environment should play a central role in a child's education.
4. Students, teachers, and parents are partners in education.
