What is DEPRESSION?

A brain disorder characterized by persistently depressed mood or loss of interest in activities or a persistent feeling of despondency and dejection.

The signs of depression include

Low self-esteem

Change in thoughts

Little to no motivation

The lack of motivation may include dropping out of school, quiting or loss of job. this may lead to suicidal thoughts or actions

Sadly only 28.7% of people get help.

There are also 13 cases of suicide per 100,000 Americans.

As stated in the slide above, very few people get help. Yet getting help is the MOST important thing to do.

There are a few ways to get help with depression

  • take psychotherapy
  • anti-depressants

Even parents can help

  • give them breathing room
  • keep communication lines open
