Can cancer be eliminated by its own genes? Can a persons own immune system kill cancer?
Tumors have genes which can avoid chemotherapy and move into different sites. Once these new sites are found, the tumors multiply and spread. The gene responsible for this allows the tumors to enter the bloodstream. Scientists have found a way to silence or kill this gene, allowing the chemotherapy to target the cancer or tumor without it relocating to a different site.
Scientists have also found a way to trigger a persons own immune system to fight the cancer even harder. Although the immune system can't kill tumor cells, scientists can turn on genes to kill precancerous and early cancer cells.

The reason I asked a question like this is because I have always been fascinated by the body's ability to overcome varying sicknesses and then create antibodies against that disease. If scientists could find a way to allow the human body to create cancer antibodies, it could be a solution.

An additional question that could be asked related to this topic is: Is there any way to have the cancer cell self destruct through gene therapy? Is there any way to turn on a gene in the cell responsible for self destruction?
