The fourth concert of our 125th season celebrates Northampton’s rich musical history, featuring music from local composer, Malcolm Arnold, and a timeless double concerto featuring local flautist, Jenny Dyson, and harpist, Elinor Nicholson.
MALCOM ARNOLD - A SUSSEX OVERTURE
We start the evening with the music of a Northampton native, Malcolm Arnold, who once played in the trumpet section of the NSO. His Sussex Overture is the perfect way to open our concert.
MOZART - CONCERTO FOR FLUTE AND HARP
Jenny Dyson and Elinor Nicholson
We are joined by Northampton's own Jenny Dyson on flute and Elinor Nicholson on harp for Mozart's beautiful Concerto for Flute and Harp.
EDWARD ELGAR - SYMPHONY NO. 3
With a nod to the romanticism that was so popular in the year of our founding, we end the evening with a performance of Elgar's Third Symphony.
