365 Days of Adventure. Here's what happened. 2016 - A Year in Review for East Lancashire Scouts

2016 has been a fantastic year for Scouting in East Lancashire. We wanted to take a look back over the past twelve months to see what's been happening and relive some of the most exciting moments.

We started the year celebrating the successes and achievements of the 2015 by hosting our Annual County Awards Ceremony.

At the end of January we held a PR Day at Bowley Scout Campsite where we hosted BBC Lancashire's 'Lancashire Outdoors' programme with BBC Presenter and Scouting Ambassador, Stephen Lowe.

We appointed Joshua Macdonald as our County Deputy Youth Commissioner. He has been working alonside Emma, our County Youth Commissioner ever since!

We kicked off our #Cubs100 celebrations by joining 8,000 other Cub Scouts from across the North West at Blackpool Pleasure Beach!

Beaver Scouts held their Funlympics event at Bowley

Throughout the year we continue to run a very successful 'Young Leader Training' weekend for Explorer Scouts. This weekend gives them the tools and resources they need to be successful young leaders in their Groups and chosen sections.

East Lancashire, in partnership with Lancashire East Guides, held another fantastically successful LEGSJam 2016 event!

This year East Lancashire hosted the Regional Lord Derby Competition for Scouts to test their outdoor skills!

We held our Annual General Meeting on 28th June with awards, reports and we launched Bowley's newest activity - quad bikes!

This year Bowley hosted an event for the Church of England - Light at the Crossroads which the Archbishop of York, Dr John Sentamu also visited.

East Lancashire was the largest contingent at Essex International Jamboree 2016 - and what an amazing time we had!

We ran a trip for over 100 Scouts, Explorers and Network to Alton Towers in September! Watch out for it again in 2017!

In September, we held our #Cubs100 Adventure Camp to celebrate 100 Years of Cub Scouting!

We also held a County Dinner for all adult volunteers and their partners to come and celebrate #Cubs100 with us. Our guest speaker was the comedian, Steve Royle.

And once again we held our annual Christmas Experience at Bowley!

That was just a whistle-stop tour of 2016 and we hope 2017 will be even better!

HAPPY NEW YEAR
