VIGAN HOUSE OF PRAYER Quarterly newsletter | Q4 2016 | Vol. 2

Beloved partners and friends, we consider it an honor to have walked with all of you for the whole of 2016. Undeniably, your yes to Him in partnering with us is highly valuable and has marked us considerably. It has been a challenging, yet fulfilling ride for us this year. Our desire is to remain steady and faithful before our Bridegroom for the rest of our days, and as a House, we embrace this truth as an anchor:

“Unless the Lord builds the house, the builders labor in vain. Unless the Lord watches over the city, the guards stand watch in vain.” | Psalm‬ ‭127:1‬ ‭NIV‬‬

‭‭As 2016 will soon come to a close, here are some of this year's highlights that have left us with expanded hearts and spirits hungrier for more of His excellencies:

CONVERGE 2016 | April 25-27 | Penang, Malaysia

As one nation-- with our friends from Cebu House of Prayer, Makati House of Prayer and Gateway House of Prayer. This was during Converge, last April 25-27 in Penang Island, Malaysia. This is an annual regional gathering of leaders' from different Houses of Prayers all across Southeast Asia.

With our International Family of Affections! It's a great joy to be journeying alongside these ones til' every nation sings.

BURNING HEARTS PHILIPPINES 2016 May 17-19 | Vigan City

This year marked the third year for Vigan HOP to host the said conference. It was indeed a remarkable gathering! As we gathered, we said yes in responding to the invitation set before us, having the same vision and heart to partner with the Son of Man in His pursuit of His Bride in this nation.

It was also quite significant since this was the first time that Makati House of Prayer and Gateway House of Prayer came into solid partnership with us, teaming up for the pre-conference preparations and such. We were also again privileged to have Josh Yeoh (Director, Penang House of Prayer), Jason Chua (Founder, Burning Hearts Singapore) speak during the conference. Of course, we had Stephen Paul Ocampo (Director, Gateway HOP) and our very own, James Lee Lacaden (Director, Vigan HOP) who delivered timely messages as well.

It was definitely a powerful time of worshiping together, interceding together and as one, responding to the invitation to enter into the reality of Isaiah 42: 10-12:

10 Sing to the LORD a new song, his praise from the ends of the earth, you who go down to the sea, and all that fills it, the coastlands and their inhabitants.

11 Let the desert and its cities lift up their voice, the villages that Kedar inhabits; let the habitants of Sela sing for joy, let them shout from the top of the mountains.

12 Let them give glory to the LORD, and declare his praise in the coastlands.

1:11 CONFERENCE | June 15-18 Singapore

As a team, we were able to attend the 1:11 Conference in Singapore earlier this year. It was indeed a privilege to partner with Burning Hearts Singapore and other HOPs all across Southeast Asia for this one gathering. There was such a weighty focus on the marriage of Prayer, Worship and Missions and how we can all partner with Jesus in this hour of church history. Francis Chan, Andy Byrd, Daniel Lim, Aaron Walsh and Jason Chua were among the speakers during the conference. The messages released sparked visions and dream to come alive and marked hearts unto one pursuit; In seeing Malachi 1:11 become a reality we all can walk into.

“My name will be great among the nations, from where the sun rises to where it sets. In every place incense and pure offerings will be brought to me, because my name will be great among the nations,” says the Lord Almighty.” | Malachi‬ ‭1:11‬ ‭NIV‬‬

IGNITE INTERNSHIP 2016 | July 3-9 Vigan City

We consider Ignite Internship a milestone for this house because it's our first time to faciliate our very first Internship. We prayed into it, stepped out in faith, and said Yes to the Lord in pursuing this. We have proved that to be courageous is to do something you are unqualified to do. And that's exactly what we did. We may have felt unqualified to push through with it, but time and time again we have experienced His sufficient grace over us.

Staff and Interns of Ignite Internship 2016

22 Interns signed up for this, from different locations--Ilocos Norte, Baguio, Quezon City (Luzon House of Prayer), Makati (Makati House of Prayer), and of course from Vigan City. We also had our friends, Stephanie James (Penang House of Prayer), Shalom Fung and Ephraim Thong (Burning Hearts Singapore) come and help us with the whole process. Their partnership and help is irreplaceable and certainly the messages they released here ignited a deeper hunger for the Son of Man.

Themes for the topics discussed during the Internship revolved around Identity, the Bridal Paradigm, Intimacy with the Lord, and such. We also had a Harp and Bowl Workshop, daily Bible Studies and as well as community time which refreshed us all a lot. Overall, it was a learning process for us, but it shifted things in our spirits causing us to believe Him for greater things. All the more it provoked our hearts to dream and partner with Jesus until every island and nation sings.

12-HOUR BURN | 6 PM-6 AM | Dec 5-6

For the last HOP set this year, we did a 12-hour overnight burn having Him set the agenda for us as we burned incense going upwards His throne. It was our first time to do the overnight burn in the small space we are renting. A deeper cry for a habitation and a hosting of His presence increased, leaving us with hearts ignited with a fresh fire of love from the Son of Man.

One of the things we hold dearly as a house is our value for community. Building solid and genuine friendships amongst us is something we want to invest in. In the midst of our busy schedules, we try to find that window to spend time with each other. We are grateful for the lives of each one who has journeyed with Vigan House of Prayer for the whole stretch of 2016. Know that you will always have a home in VigHOP.

Ignite Internship is happening again this coming January 15-21 2017! It's one full week of going deep and an embracing of this one ultimate pursuit of knowing the Son of Man and His desire for His Bride in this hour.

The Lord has started this momentum inside of us and we want to ride on in what He is doing through us. Partnering with Him til' He receives His reward is simply a joy that we want to enter and journey in!

We'd love to give you an opportunity to sow in this house through partnering with us in prayer. Currently, here are some things that we are believing as a family:

  • The upcoming Ignite Internship on January 15-21, 2017
  • Strength, wisdom and provision for the Staff, especially our friends that will be coming in from Penang House of Prayer and Burning Hearts Singapore.
  • A deeper hunger and expectant hearts for the interns that will be joining, as well as provision for them.
  • We are believing the Lord for an expansion in terms of the current space we are renting-- because we are undeniably growing!
  • Pray for our full-time staff in the that they remain steady in the journey, as they walk in intimacy before their Bridegroom.
  • We believe that it's the Lord's will for the Bride to be binded together in love, having a unified vision to remain steady and ready for the return of the Son of Man. We want to be intentional in building connections and generating ideas on how we can partner with the local churches.

As a House, we could not have made it through this year without your faithful partnership with us, both in prayer and finances as well. It is with joyful hearts that we extend our gratitude towards all of you who has sowed in what He is doing in Vigan City and our nation, The Philippines.

If you wish to continue in partnering with us, and if you are led to extend support, please do contact us, so we can send your further details.

Jesus is worthy of all our praises and adoration! If there's one reason why we still exist as Vigan House of Prayer is because of the worthiness of Jesus. We cannot just stop doing what we are doing because of busyness, lack of finances, lack of musicians and singers, and our differences. Even if at times these problems occur, we will always go back to the Reason why we exist as a House of Prayer- the beauty of Jesus.

God has caught us up in the story that He is doing all across the earth today and we have responded to Him with our weak yes. By singing to Him and meditating on His word 8 hours a week in the Prayer Room, God opened up our eyes to see Him rightly and that's why we are still here. In seeing Him rightly, we can respond to him rightly -- in all His beauty, His tenderness and His lavish love and affection over us.

This will be our last newsletter for this year and we thank you for all your prayers, support and the love that you have extended to us. We pray that we will run this race together until He returns.

Brethren I do not count myself to have apprehended: but one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead. I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus. | Philippians 3:13-14

Until every island sings,

James Lee Lacaden | Director, Vigan House of Prayer
