Join Us for Camp Chromebook on Wednesday, June 20

Join us for a free day of learning around G Suite for Education!

Join us for Camp Chromebook on Wednesday, June 20, 2018 at Boise-Eliot/Humboldt School in Portland, OR. Click the link above for more details. This is a *free* professional learning opportunity for any educators interested in learning more about Google Apps and G Suite for Education tools and how to integrate them into your classroom instruction using best practices and relevant strategies. All levels welcome. Check back for the schedule to see the sessions that will be offered. Register here for the event to save your spot! You can volunteer to facilitate a session here. You do not have to work for Portland Public Schools to participate. Please share with any interested colleagues.

Google Certified Educator Level 1

Are you interested in becoming a Google Certified Educator Level 1? If you're an educator who knows how to use Google tools in the classroom, this certification proves your proficiency. You can study for the exam using these skills checklists from Eric Curts or you can take the exam if you’re ready and IT will pay the $10 certification fee! You’ll need to take the exam at one of the testing sessions either during the weeks of June 18 or Aug. 6 or at Camp Chromebook on June 20. Exact dates to be determined and will be posted on the PPS Learning Campus. Questions? Reply to Melissa Lim, mlim@pps.net.

PDX Scratch Educator SCRATCH DAY Meetup @ISTE Offices!

On Scratch Day, Saturday, May 12 from 11am to 2pm, join the special ScratchEd Meetup at ISTE HQ in downtown Portland! ScratchEd Meetups are informal gatherings for educators who work with (or are interested in working with) Scratch! The meetup will start with networking over light refreshments, getting to know fellow attendees and sharing what people want to explore. We'll collaboratively decide how to structure our learning and then form small groups based on our different interests. Then we'll gather as a whole group for lunch and group sharing. What should you bring? Curiosity, excitement and a laptop that supports flash will be helpful! Free registration here.

Virtual Office Hours

This year, I'll be holding virtual office hours on the third Wednesday of each month from 4-4:30pm. If you have education technology-related questions, would like to have a conversation or get feedback, please join me in my WebEx meeting room. I'll send out reminders, so just click the link at the scheduled time!
