Middle School Basketball Defeats STAB, 39-32

Thursday, January 12, 2017 -- Game Recap

The Fork Union Middle School basketball team held off Saint Anne's Belfield, 39-32, Thursday night in the Thomas Gymnasium.

The boys did a great job versus STAB. They are one of the most talented teams we will play all season. Our theme for season is ‘serving your teammates, caring for your fellow man’ and I think the entire team displayed those qualities during the contest. Everyone played, everyone contributed and everyone was happy for the team.
Keaton Clark did an outstanding job running the team at the point guard position and making big shots. Logan French was a force on the offensive and defensive glass as well as a shot-blocking presence. Ky Chandler took the responsibility of guarding their best player and rose to the challenge by disrupting their offense. This game showed how hard the boys are working, the growth that taken place this season and their potential to improve.
Thanks to everyone who came to the game and supported our guys, especially the Prep and Junior Prep teams! It displayed the unity of our entire basketball program. -- Coach Berry

The Blue Devils return to the court Wednesday, Jan. 18 when they host county-rival Fluvanna at 4:30 p.m.

FUMA Athletics Thanks The CUBE

During basketball season, Fork Union athletics has been able to stream all four basketball teams live on The Cube thanks to these five cadets: Jackson Simon, Andrew Schultz, Oliver Long, Thailan Pay and Keaton Clark. Members of the Sports Information Club, these five cadets have all been crucial to the setup, operation and management of The Cube.

Schultz and Long have been the veterans of the group, running camera angles and the computerized scoreboard, while Simon, Clark and Pay make up the broadcast crew. Simon and Clark are also members of the basketball team.

"The reason why I do the Cube is for the families that can't come to the games and want to see their loved one play the game that he is passionate about. When I see the Cube crew laughing and enjoying what we are doing, it makes me smile and I love that we have the opportunity to do this for the school. I hope that while I'm here I can make a difference and do something bigger with the Cube." -- Andrew Schultz

Fork Union athletics has averaged 270 views per contest. The PG Basketball game against Hargrave Military on Dec. 10, 2016 reached an all-time high of 1,167 views this season.
