Trip to Isleta Elementary School Gildan New Mexico Bowl

One of the great things about being in a bowl game isn't just the game, it's the events surrounding the game. While the gift suite is a great thing for the players, all of the student-athletes love getting to do various community service projects. In conjunction with the Gildan New Mexico Bowl, several student-athletes from both teams visited the kids at Isleta Elementary School, and UNM's Director of Recruiting Vince Natali snapped some pictures of the event.

Three student-athletes from both teams made the trip to Isleta Elementary School.

For UNM, Garrett Adcock, John Russo and Romell Jordan made the trip. They all signed (along with UTSA) about 200 autograph cards for the kids. Garrett, John and Romell all enjoyed the ride to Isleta and getting to know the UTSA student-athletes as well.

All six student-athletes talked about the importance of school and what it takes to make it to college. As you can see, the kids also knew how to do the Lobo!

UNM's representatives were terrific role models. Romell Jordan is from Rio Rancho and has kept up his studies despite on injury. John Russo was an Albuquerque walk-on whose hard work on the field and in the classroom earned him a scholarship, and Garrett Adcock is the only second-year law student in college football's FBS.

A sign made for Garrett!
This little guy already is geared up for the big game! Make sure you get your tickets to see the nation's number one rushing offense as UNM takes on UTSA at noon on Saturday, December 17 at University Stadium.
