The Rebel Report November 13, 2017

Earlier today, Larson 8th graders, staff, and parents braved chilly temps to serve our community and demonstrate responsibility. Our students raked leaves all morning, filling countless bags for local seniors that needed an extra helping hand. Way to go, LMS 8th graders! Thanks to our many parent volunteers and to Mrs. Yousif and Mrs. Slade for organizing this worthwhile endeavor.

Building/Site Sinking Fund -- Thank You LMS Community!

We appreciate all of you who went to the polls and supported the Building and Site Sinking Fund earlier this week. Those funds will soon be put into use to repair many items around the district. It's truly a blessing to work in a community that values and supports education!

Michigan Opera Theater @ LMS!

Earlier this week, LMS fine arts students (and many from Boulan Park MS) were able to experience a live performance from the Michigan Opera Theater group. It was an entertaining and well-received event and our students were able to ask questions of the performers at the conclusion of the event. Special thanks to Ms. Lalla for organizing this and LMS parent Ms. Natcheva for making the connection for us. Bravo!

Canned Food Drive

The Larson Student Council is organizing a can drive to benefit the St. Anastasia Food Pantry. The 2nd hour class with the most cans collected will win a prize. All donations must be brought in by Tuesday, November 21. Cans should be brought into your student's second hour class.

Counselor Coffee Talk

On Tuesday, December 5th from 9:30-10:30 am in the Collaboration Studio, the LMS Counseling department is offering an educational "Coffee Talk" for parents of current LMS students. Jessica Cortez, LMSW from the ACS Assessment and Treatment Center, will be at Larson discussing how parents can point out and encourage resiliency at home. Resiliency is an important component and is one of our pillars here at Larson STRONG. The best way to embed this type of character is ensure consistency across environments. We hope to see you there!

Parking Lot Drop-off Reminders

Parents, a friendly reminder to use great caution when dropping off in the morning, especially when it is dark. Only use the RIGHT lane to drop off your student. The LEFT lane is for teachers to access the staff lot in front of the building and is not for drop-off traffic. Lastly, know that you may drop off your student as early as 7:20 am. You will find traffic is much lighter during this time! Thanks in advance for ensuring all of our students arrive to school safely.

Green Team Event

The Green Team will be having an after school event next Wednesday, November 15. We will be making toys for shelter animals out of repurposed materials (socks, water bottles and yarn). The activity will take place from 2:45-3:45 in the Collaboration Studio. All students participating in the activity must be picked up from Larson by 3:45pm. Please sign up for the activity using the link below.
