SOCCER LAST WEEK

The Lyons shouldered a pair of tough one-goal losses last week at the hands of Western New England and NEWMAC-rival Emerson. Junior Hannah Finn-Erb punched in both goals scored for the Lyons, while senior keeper Amanda Manaster recorded 22 saves on the week.

Sat., Sept. 22 vs. Wellesley College (SAAC Game of the Week) -TIME: 12pm

CROSS COUNTRY LAST WEEK

Twelve season's best times were achieved, along with five personal bests, as cross country team competed at the UMass-Dartmouth Invitational on Saturday. The varsity runners combined to take ninth overall in a field of 45, bettering last year's effort which saw the Lyons finish 28th of 40 teams. Additionally, the sub varsity runners took fifth overall in a field of 15. Both finishes exceeded the squad's goals for placing in the events.

Sat., Oct. 6 at James Earley Invitational at Westfield State - TIME: 12pm

VOLLEYBALL LAST WEEK

The Lyons were 1-1 last week, defeating Westfield State on the road, before falling to Wellesley at home in the NEWMAC opener. Senior captain Jamesa Allen notched 16 kills in the win, while junior middle hitter Sasha Simine had a match-high seven kills against the Blue.

Thurs., Sept. 20 vs. Anna Maria - TIME: 7pm

Sat., Sept. 22 at Emerson - TIME: 12PM

FIELD HOCKEY LAST WEEK

Field Hockey went 3-0 last week, taking road contests at Westfield State, Clark and Thomas. Rookies played a critical role for the Lyons as Kass Lawrence, Margaret Robb and Abby Baldwin all scored. In goal, junior Morgan Turner had 16 saves, while senior captain Mirjam Keochakian notched a pair of defensive saves.

Sat., Sept. 22 vs. MIT - TIME: 2PM

TENNIS LAST WEEK

The Lyons cruised to a 9-0 victory over Simmons University last week on their home courts in South Hadley. After each doubles team earned a 3-0 win, MHC went to work in singles as all six players recorded victories. Leading the way was the first doubles pair of Ayame Yazawa and Ching-Ching Huang, both of whom won at first and second singles, respectively.

Fri., Sept. 21 at Tennis Hall of Fame Tournament in Newport, R.I. - TIME: 1PM

GOLF last week

The Lyons finished fifth overall last week at the 2018 Ann S. Batchelder Invitational at Wellesley. Leading the way for MHC was rookie Cortney Qiu, who posted a score of 158 (80-78) in her collegiate debut, and finished tied for seventh overall.
