A day on campus – everything you need to know

It’s nearly time for teaching to begin and we hope you’re ready for the trimester ahead.

We’ve put in place many new services to make it safe for you to access our campuses for classes, tutorials and studying.

None of us will be on campus as often as we would like, but for those times you are timetabled to be on campus, here’s everything you’ll need to do.

Before you do anything else, download the iNapier app.

The iNapier app is going to be one of the most important apps on your phone. It’s how you register attendance in class, how to tell us you are on campus, and how you book study space and PCs on campus.

You can still use iNapier to access your timetable, email and everything else it has always offered, but now it is crucial for you getting on campus safely.

Make sure you have it downloaded before you come to campus.

You can do this in your phone’s app store, or visit myNapier to find out how.

Booking equipment, study space, or PCs

If you want to use anything on campus that isn’t part of a timetabled class, you need to book it before you arrive.

You need to use Resource Booker if you want to use PCs, equipment, or study spaces on campus.

You can access this with your iNapier app or by visiting Resource Booker myNapier.

Complete the checklist and quiz before going on campus

Before you come to campus, you must complete the Return to Campus Health & Safety Guidance (Students) Moodle checklist and quiz.

It will tell you everything you need to do and everything you need to read before visiting our buildings.

Click here to access the checklist and quiz.

Use Resource Booker if you want to use PCs, equipment, or study spaces on campus.

Bring your face covering

Face coverings must be worn on campus, at our other teaching venues at EICC (Edinburgh International Conference Centre), Eric Liddell Centre and Murrayfield, accommodation, communal areas and all other teaching areas.

There are special circumstances when students or staff do not need to wear face coverings, so if you see someone not wearing one, remember to be respectful as they may have a very good reason for not wearing it. You must use Student Check-In to register your attendance for all of your classes – whether online, on campus, or at our other teaching venues.

When you arrive at a campus

Register your presence with the iNapier app.

At the entrance of each campus there will be posters with special QR codes on them. You must use the iNapier app which has a special reader to read the QR codes. This will register your presence on campus. Normal QR Code readers will not work, so please use the iNapier app.

This tile will be made available to you during your first week of the trimester, so please make sure you use it.

For more information on car parking and travelling to campus, please visit myNapier.

Remember to register your attendance in class by using the Student Check-In tile on iNapier

Register your attendance in class with the iNapier app

You must also register your attendance in class by using the Student Check-in tile on iNapier. This will tell us that you have attended a class. This information forms part of our responsibilities as part of the government’s Test and Protect programme to keep everyone safe on campus.

You must use Student Check-In to register your attendance for all of your classes – whether online, on campus, or at our other teaching venues.

This tile will be made available to you during your first week of the trimester and your lecturer or tutor will take a hard copy of your attendance until it is released.

If for any reason you are unable to check-in using the iNapier app, please tell your lecturer who can log your attendance.

You can find out everything you need to know about the Student Check-In on myNapier.

Playing your part when you’re in class

You must wipe down your workspace before and after each class. There will be wipes available for you to use.

Classrooms have been set out so that tables and chairs are a safe distance from each other, so please do not move the chairs around the room.

You can remove your face covering when you are seated and advised to do so by your lecturer.

Do not move around the classroom unless you have been asked to do so, and ask your lecturer if you are unsure about anything.

It may feel strange at first, but soon you’ll be used to these new approaches, and they are all being put in place to protect you and those around you.

Using the Library

For your safety, there have been a number of changes made to how you access and use our libraries.

This is to make sure that our libraries are places where you can learn comfortably and safely.

You can find out all of the latest information on myNapier's library news page.

Moving around campus

We have introduced floor markings, directional signage, one-way entrance and exits, and a number of other changes all designed to help keep you safe. Please follow the signs and be patient where they are any problems. Everyone is doing their best and this is new for all of us.

The rules are slightly different for when you visit our other teaching venues at EICC (Edinburgh International Conference Centre), BT Murrayfield, or Eric Liddell Centre.

Find out what you need to do at these locations here.

Remember our lifts are now reserved for those who most need them

The lifts are now only for those students and staff with mobility issues.

For social distancing reasons, our lifts are only accessible by one person at a time, and we have chosen to reserve them for those who most need them.

If you are a student who, for reasons visible or invisible, will need to use the lifts around our campuses, contacting Student Wellbeing & Inclusion to gain authorisation. You can get in touch with them by visiting my.napier.ac.uk/talkinghelps

Please be considerate of others who are given authorisation to use lifts. Remember that there are many invisible reasons who someone may need to use a lift.

Hungry? Remember to use the new Click and Collect

All food at our campus canteens must now be bought using our new Click and Collect catering service.
