Paint can flow on its own. The result is a random effect that is so hard to achieve with the hand that always wants to be in control
After a while areas suggest themselves - spaces for movement. A place for dancers to step into the light
Colours mingle, move and stick others stay put while darks create themselves over a period of time. Everything is moving
Creating a sense of light and movement was a big surprise and opened up a new way of seeing
'What's done in the dark is revealed in the light' - my grandmother Nora
I suddenly felt like a dance choreographer - choosing where the figures could go, the spaces they move into and who they interact with
This series of paintings on paper happened one day when I had no plan at all. Or at least so I thought. Finding comfort to listen to an inner voice which is always there is something I am always amazed by. When this happens it feels like finding a piece of treasure. Painting for me is always a trial and error, I never feel as if it is a comfortable ride - so not on a guided tour but more of a backpacker's exploration. When I suddenly hit on a way of applying paint that flows I know I am tapping into the creativity zone.
