Charlemagne-Greatest ruler of the Carolingian Empire and the Franks. Expanded the Frankish Empire all over a great portion of Europe. Brought many reforms to the Franks. Also known as Charles the Great. Founded both the French and German Monarchies.

Pepin the Short-The Pope anointed him in 752 A.D. In exchange for the blessings he promised that he would protect the church. In 754 A.D. he got rid of the people that were attacking the church. After he got rid of the Lombards he gave the land to the Pope
