March’s race weekend was cool and cloudy out on the Stewart (B) 2.97-mile course. Due to heavy rainfall and a slick track, Friday’s race day was officially cancelled. Despite the lost day of track time, the inclement weather cleared up in time for Saturday’s races, leaving sunny blue skies and a brisk breeze for our 16 Prototype and 13 Sports Cars drivers.
You could feel the energy in the air as everyone was eager to get racing! Club member Gregg Gorski raced for the first time in his Wolf GB08SM Turbo (P1). Karen Wonnenberg also participated in her first Wheel-to-Wheel race in her Miata MX5 (GT4). Congrats to Chris Souliotis as well for breaking the only track record this weekend in the GT1 class with his Porsche GT2RSR.
We’re happy to have some new drivers who joined us on track this weekend as well! Please give a warm welcome to Stephanie Cemo, Josh Esfahani, and Regan Steedman. Stephanie and Josh both competed in the PR class in their Radical SR3s, and Regan raced in the GT3 class in her Porsche Boxster. We’re pleased to have you as a part of the Club Spring Mountain family!
