The Emerging Role of the Bishop By Daniel Gonzalez

The Early Church

The Episcopal Synod is a congregation of all the bishops and the pope. This formation is not legelastive but a representative body that advises the pope on challenges that go against the unity of the church. In the Early days, this congregation fought against schematics like the Montanists that practiced self denial.

Second Vatican Council

The Episcopal collegiality is a doctrine which explains a special formation of all the bishops and the pope. This formation of clergy has full authority over the universal church. The role of this formation is to keep unity between other churches and the church's people.

The Archdiocese of Miami

Archbishop Wenski is a brilliant man whom has done work for the church in Haiti and Cuba which has given him the ability to speak Spanish and Creole. The church has relayed many charity groups to him and appointed him Archbishop.

Peter Baldacchino is the 10th auxiliary bishop of Miami. He at first didn't think the "holy" life was for him. He got his education in the University of Malta where he studied science and chemistry.
