Does your student ever wake up completely exhausted and feel totally drained at the end of their day? School is starting too early for students. School starts too early which leads to kids not paying attention in class, falling asleep and not being able to keep up with the rest of the class, which leads to bad grades. This is happening because students are not getting enough rest to be productive through the day.

Waking up early in the morning and heading to school and getting work shocks the brain of the average school-goer.That’s too early, Wheaton says. Tweens and teens are experiencing shifts in their natural sleep cycles. Their bodies’ inner “clocks” make it hard for them to go to bed before 10:30 or 11:00 p.m. But to get to school on time, they have to wake up as early as 5:30 a.m. A first school bell just after 8am slices into the 8.5 to 9.5 hours of sleep tweens and teens need to be healthy and perform at their best, she says. “We’re fighting biology.” Tests were taken and sleep patterns were monitored by experts and came together and concluded that school starts too early in the morning for students. Adolescents who do not get enough sleep are more likely to Become Overweight, Not get enough Physical Activity, Suffer from depression symptoms, Engage in risk behaviors as drinking alcohol, smoking tobacco and using illicit drugs. Adolescents that do not get enough sleep do poorly in school.This proves that starting school later helps in all types of ways, And prevents these things happening to adolescents.This evidence shows you that sleep patterns are messed up for the average adolescent,waking up at 5,5:30,6 or 7 in the morning to get ready and rush out of the house to catch the bus and going to sleep at 11 for the average student that is not enough rest for an adolescent and waking up to rushing and starting your day off in a hurry is not good for you.Starting your day like that shocks your brain and does not let you fully wake up and get prepared for the full school day coming.That being said schools are starting to early and that should be fixed by starting school later in the day so adolescents can be prepared for the full day ahead.
