Ainthorpe Primary School Newsletter January 22nd 2021

It has been amazing to see so many of our children continuing to work hard over the past few weeks of lockdown and we do hope that this continues.

The main thing we want is for all of the children back in school as soon as possible and are constantly looking at different ways that we can help and support you until this time.

We will continue to offer any support to help your child's learning continue. The easiest way for this is via Google Classroom, where a member of Ainthorpe staff monitors at regular times throughout the day and can answer questions for you if needed.

Make someone smile.

In our assembly today we announced a new, weekly activity that children can get involved in. This week, we would like the children to write a letter to somebody who may be feeling lonely during this time so that we can pass it on.

Any letters that we receive will be sent to a local care home to try and cheer some of the resident up a little bit and to put a smile on their faces. An example letter is below but make sure that the children keep the letter open (as they don't know the person that they are writing to) and friendly.

Any completed letters can be sent through to teachers or dropped in at the school office. We will then safely pass them on. Please send any letters through to us by Thursday 28th January please.

Example letter for the children to use (to help!)

Hello there,

My name is Mark and I attend Ainthorpe Primary School. I wanted to write a letter to you to put a smile on your face. We all know that things are not very nice at the moment but hopefully it will all be back to normal very soon.

I miss seeing my friends and playing with them but really hope that I can do this soon. Working at home is strange but we still do all of our lessons as normal. My favourite is Maths.

Even though I can't see my friends at the moment, I do like to spend time with my family. We play different games and spend time with each other.

I'm sure that you have lots of people around you that are making sure that you are staying safe and keeping happy.

I hope this letter has put a little smile on your face as well.

It was lovely to see lots of you attend our first live assembly this morning. An invite will be sent out every week and we will ask some of our children to take part in them in coming weeks - hopefully we can have some of our children reading out one of the letters that they have written.

From next week, staff at the school will be taking regular Covid tests in-line with all other schools in the country. We are hoping that things will continue as normal with places for key-worker children along with remote learning for all other children. Obviously, there is still a possibility of positive results and we will inform parents as early as possible if this occurs as specific groups coming into the school would need to isolate if this happened. Remote learning would still be available regardless of this.

We will continue to keep you updated with any developments as we receive them. All we expect is for the children to try as hard as they can but please do not worry if you don't understand certain aspects or are struggling to support them. We are still here to help so drop us a message and we will try to remotely support you however we can.
