Hitler joined the German Army in World War I, though he was an Austrian citizen. Here he is pictured on the far right. To his left was his favorite pet and animal sidekick Fuchsl the dog.
After the war, he was instructed to spy on the German Workers' Party, but instead adopted its ideas, using his influential speeches to become their leader.

Though now it is easy to see Hitler and his ideas as a joke, seeing the hope he gave to people who were truly desperate for change makes it clear why the German people followed him.

Hitler obtained the full dedication and loyalty from the German people. Seen above, a stadium of Germans saluting Adolf Hitler.

When Hitler amassed a Nazi army, he began an invasion, the beginning of World War II. He began a genocide to purge the earth of undesirables. This resulted in the death of 11 million people.
